Der Ort liegt 517 m über dem Meeresspiegel und hatte 2002 eine Einwohnerzahl von 347 Bewohnern, während es 1991 noch 488 waren, nach den letzten drei Bevölkerungsstatistiken fällt die Einwohnerzahl weiter. Die Bevölkerung von Poružnica stellen orthodoxe Serben. Das Dorf besteht aus 128 Haushalten. Sesalac liegt rund 15 km östlich von dem ostserbischen Kurort Sokobanja entfernt, in der Nähe liegt die Höhle Sesalačka pećina, wo einige frühzeitliche Fundstücke belegen, dass die Gegend schon in der Steinzeit besiedelt war.
