- L'escubidú (del francès scoubidou) és una forma de macramé que es va posar de moda als any 1960 i que va ressorgir la dècada de 1980 i el 2004. Tot i això, la tècnica –amb materials tradicionals– és més antiga i se'n troben traces des del primer mil·lenni precristià a l'Àfrica subsahariana en la decoració de ceràmica. Tot i es pot fer servir qualsevol material oblong i fluix, –cordills, argila, cuir…– la forma moderna consisteix en trenar diversos tubs de plàstic, de diferents colors i de secció mil·limètrica, que es poden utilitzar després com a anells i polseres. Hi ha diferents modes de trenar els tubs, tot i que el més habitual és fer-ho amb quatre tubs diferents, tot formant una secció quadrada. El nom d'«escubidú» prové d'una onomatopeia manllevada de l'scat, una forma de jazz, scoo bi doo bi dooh ah!, utilitzada en aquest sentit per primera vegada el 1958 en la cançó «Scoubidou», el primer senzill exitós del cantautor francès Sacha Distel. En l'argot francès, la paraula va prendre el significat de penis, més aviat en sentit despectiu quant a les dimensions. (ca)

- Le Scoubidou est un loisir créatif qui apparaît en France en 1958 et célébré l'année suivante dans la chanson homonyme de Sacha Distel. La mode revient dans les années 1980. À l'aide de tuyaux en plastique souple de section millimétrique, on tresse d'interminables boudins colorés – carrés ou polygonaux, droits ou torsadés – qui peuvent être utilisés comme bracelets ou porte-clefs. Il est possible de faire d'autres scoubidous plus complexes (triangulés, en croix…) voire des personnages, objets ou animaux selon l'imagination du créateur. (fr)

- Scoubidou was een rage in 2004, waarbij het knopen van plastic touwtjes centraal staat. De scoubidous zijn soepele, ronde, holle plastic draadjes van ongeveer 80 centimeter lang. Ze zijn in verschillende kleuren, maten en soorten te verkrijgen. Met deze draadjes kunnen allerlei dingen gemaakt worden door ze aan elkaar te knopen met speciale knooptechnieken (rond, recht). Meestal knoopt men met 2 scoubidoutouwtjes, maar het kan ook met meerdere touwtjes. Met scoubidou kan men bijvoorbeeld sleutelhangers, vriendschapsbandjes en andere maken. Scoubidou is afkomstig uit Frankrijk, waar het in de jaren 60 ook al een rage was. In de Verenigde Staten heet het boondoggle. In juli 2004 kwam scoubidou negatief in het nieuws toen uit Duitse en Nederlandse onderzoeken bleek dat het plastic te grote hoeveelheden van de weekmaker ftalaat bevatte. Later maakte de Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteit (VWA), na onderzoek, bekend dat er slechts zeer kleine hoeveelheden ftalaten vrijkomen, waarbij de schadelijkheid, ook voor kleine kinderen, nihil is. Plecionki mogą mieć prosty kształt lub tworzy się z nich skomplikowane struktury: bransolety, breloki i inne ozdoby, a nawet rzeźby. Do zaplatania filofunów wykorzystuje się zwykle od 2. do 8. żyłek lub sznurków, chociaż zdarzają się przypadki, w których filofuny wykonane są np. z 10. żyłek. Plecionki tego typu po raz pierwszy pojawiły się we Francji na przełomie lat 50. i 60. Renesans popularności filofun nastąpił około roku 2005, kiedy podbiły rynek zabawek dla dzieci. W Polsce plecionki takie nazywa się zwykle filofun od włoskiego filo – nić i angielskiego fun – zabawa, lecz w innych krajach znane są pod innymi nazwami. Najczęściej spotykana to scoubidou, od piosenki Sachy Distela pod tym samym tytułem. (pl)
