- حجر رود أو رودستون هو نوع من الصخور الجيرية. لم ينظر تصنيف دنهام (دنهام، 1962 ) في حجم الحبيبات كمعيار لوصف الخصائص الحجرية الكربوناتية. في محاولة لتصحيح هذا النقص الملحوظ، قدم امبري وكلوفان (1971) مصطلح رودستون (الحبيبات الداعمة) والحجر الطافي (الفرشة الداعمة) للحجر الجيري الخشن الحبيبي جليب النشأة. بعد دراسة استقصائية عن استخدام تصنيف دنهام، أوضح لوكر والجنيبي (2016) تعريف حجر رود بأنه «صخرة يسيطر عليها الكربونات، حيث يتكون أكثر من 10٪ من الحجم من الحبيبات الأكبر من 2 مم وتدعم هذه الحبيبات نسيج الصخر». - Rudstone is a type of carbonate rock. The Dunham classification (Dunham, 1962) did not consider grain size as a criterion for the description of carbonate lithologies. In an attempt to rectify this perceived deficiency, Embry & Klovan (1971) introduced the terms rudstone (grain supported) and floatstone (matrix supported) for coarse-grained allochthonous carbonates. Following a survey of the use of the Dunham classification, Lokier and Al Junaibi (2016) clarified the definition of a rudstone as "a carbonate-dominated rock where more than 10% of the volume is comprised of grains larger than 2 mm and these grains support the fabric of the rock." - Rudstone is een type carbonaatgesteente uit de indeling van Dunham. Rudstone is klasten-dragend met ten minste 10% klasten groter dan 2 mm. De matrix van een rudstone bestaat uit micriet (kalkmodder). De onderdelen van een rudstone werden bij de afzetting samengevoegd; voor het gesteente vormde waren ze nog niet met elkaar verbonden. Rudstone kwam in Dunhams oorspronkelijke indeling uit 1962 nog niet voor en werd later toegevoegd. In de oorspronkelijke indeling werden alle carbonaatgesteentes met een micriet-matrix en bij afzetting niet samengebonden dragende klasten ingedeeld als packstone. Het verschil tussen rudstone en packstone is alleen de grootte van de klasten. Onder rudstone vallen bijvoorbeeld gesteentes die rijk zijn aan grotere fossielen, zoals voorkomen in biostromen. Andere rudstones zijn opgebouwd uit oöiden of . Kalkhoudende breccies worden over het algemeen niet met Dunhams classificatie benoemd. Rudstone ontstaat over het algemeen in middelmatig tot snel stromend water. Veel rudstone is gevormd bij tijdelijk snellere stroming, zoals in stormen over of massabeweging over de flanken van riffen. (nl)
