- Roca Vecchia (auch Roca oder Rocaveccia) ist der Name eines archäologischen Fundorts, der nur wenige hundert Meter südlich der modernen Ortschaft und Fraktion Roca Vecchia, die zur Gemeinde Melendugno gehört, und knapp 8 Kilometer östlich vom Stadtzentrum Melendugnos, in der italienischen Provinz Lecce in Apulien liegt. Der Fundort Roca Vecchia umfasst vor allem eine mehrphasige, befestigte Siedlung, die trotz mehrerer Zerstörungen vom 17./16. Jahrhundert v. Chr. bis in die frühe Eisenzeit (bis zum frühen 7. Jahrhundert v. Chr.) kontinuierlich bewohnt war und vom 13. bis zum 11. Jahrhundert wahrscheinlich auch einen mykenisch-griechischen Bevölkerungsanteil hatte. Einzigartig ist die sehr hohe Anzahl sowohl einheimischer als auch importierter Tongefäße, die bei den Ausgrabungen in Roca Vecchia ans Licht kamen. Auch die bereits während der mittleren Bronzezeit errichtete sehr massive Wehrmauer sucht in der Region ihres gleichen. Im Mittelalter und in der Renaissance wurde das Areal teilweise überbaut. Unweit davon befindet sich eine Höhle, die Grotta della Poesia, in der sich Spuren vorgeschichtlicher und antiker Kulthandlungen fanden, insbesondere tausende von Felsinschriften, -zeichnungen oder -einritzungen aus dem 3. Jahrtausend v. Chr. bis in die Zeit der römischen Republik, darunter hunderte messapische Graffiti. In der Umgebung wurden ferner Reste vorgeschichtlicher und antiker Nekropolen entdeckt. (de)
- Roca (also known as Rocavecchia or Roca Vecchia) is an archaeological site located on the Adriatic coast of Apulia in Southern Italy, a few kilometres from the modern town of Melendugno and close to the city of Lecce.The site, which has been explored since the end of the 1980s by a team of the University of Salento, has produced some of the best-preserved monumental architecture of the Bronze Age (2nd millennium BC) in Southern Italy, along with the largest set of Mycenaean pottery ever recovered west of mainland Greece. The occupation of the site continued also in the Iron Age and Classical times, when a large natural cavity known as Poesia Cave was used for cult practices involving the writing of thousands of dedications to a local deity in three languages: Greek, Messapic and Latin. The site was re-occupied in late medieval times, when a new town was founded by Walter VI, Count of Brienne. (en)
- Roca Vecchia o Rocavecchia è una località costiera del Salento e una delle marine di Melendugno, in provincia di Lecce. Si affaccia sul Mare Adriatico ed è posta tra San Foca e Torre dell'Orso. Sede di importanti scavi archeologici, è un centro turistico di rilievo durante il periodo estivo. Si segnalano la torre di avvistamento cinquecentesca, le rovine del castello a picco sul mare, il santuario della Madonna di Roca del XVII sec. e le due grotte Poesia (dal greco, "sorgente d'acqua dolce"), meglio note come grotte della Poesia. Queste ultime, in particolare, distanti circa 60 metri l'una dall'altra, sono delle grotte carsiche cui sono crollati i tetti; l'acqua del mare giunge in ciascuna di esse attraverso un canale percorribile a nuoto o con una piccola imbarcazione. La più grande delle due ha una pianta approssimativamente ellittica con assi di circa 30 e 18 metri e dista dal mare aperto una trentina di metri. La Poesia Piccola, invece, ha assi di circa 15 e 9 metri ed è separata dal mare aperto da una settantina di metri in linea d'aria. La sua notevole importanza in ambito archeologico è legata al rinvenimento nel 1983, grazie all'archeologo Cosimo Pagliara, di iscrizioni messapiche (ma anche latine e greche) sulle sue pareti, da cui è stato possibile stabilire che la grotta fosse anticamente luogo di culto del dio Taotor (o anche Tator, Teotor, o Tootor). A nord dell'area archeologica sorge il centro attualmente abitato (22 residenti nel 2001), noto anche come Roca li Posti, frequentato in estate da vacanzieri. Lungo la strada che collega Torre dell'Orso a Melendugno sorge il vecchio villaggio disabitato, con una masseria fortificata attualmente in restauro, di Roca Nuova. Tale borgo sorse intorno al 1480, quando la popolazione di Roca Vecchia fu messa in fuga dalle incursioni turche. (it)

З кінця 1980-х років тут, командою , ведуться розкопки добре збереженої монументальної архітектури доби бронзи (ІІ тис. до н. е.) та найбільші поклади мікенської кераміки, що коли-небудь знаходили на захід від материкової Греції. Це місце залишалось населеним також і в добу залізного віку та класичної античності. У ці часи велика природна порожнина, що утворилась у вапнякових породах на узбережжі — Гротта-делла-Поезія (італ.
