- Das Red Sea Jazz Festival ist ein alljährlich seit 1987 an vier Tagen in der letzten Augustwoche in Eilat in Israel stattfindendes Jazz-Festival. Es findet unter offenem Himmel im Hafenbereich statt. Zu dem größten Jazzfestival in Israel kommen jährlich rund 70.000 Besucher. Gründer und bis 2008 Leiter war der israelische Jazzpianist (* 1939), danach Avishai Cohen. Es wird vom israelischen Kultur- und Tourismusministeriums und der Stadt Eilat unterstützt. Einige der Konzerte sind auch frei. Es finden Workshops statt (in Hotels), dient der Begegnung israelischer und ausländischer Jazzmusiker und bietet Plattformen kollaborativer Projekte, so in der Vergangenheit von Randy Brecker und Mark Egan, Miroslav Vitouš und John Abercrombie, Charlie Haden und John Scofield. - The Red Sea Jazz Festival is a jazz festival held annually in Eilat, Israel. The Red Sea Jazz Festival was first held in 1987. It is a four-day-long event featuring 9-10 concerts per evening, 6 workshops with guest artists and nightly jam sessions. All performances are held outdoors at the Eilat port. The workshops take place at a nearby hotel. The festival offers a combination of performances by international jazz artists and local talent. It also provides a venue for collaborative efforts, with special productions exclusive to the festival. Some of these special productions have included Randy Brecker & Mark Egan, The Jazz Beatles, Miroslav Vitous & John Abercrombie, and Charlie Haden & John Scofield. The festival draws audiences of 70,000, with an average of 2,500 people per concert. It is run as a non-profit organization and enjoys the support of the Municipality of Eilat, the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, the Eilat Hotel Association and various business sponsors. In 2008, Israeli jazz bassist Avishai Cohen was named artistic director, replacing Dan Gottfried, who initiated the festival and served as artistic director for 22 years. During his tenure Gottfried has showcased over 1500 world-famous Jazz artists and established the reputation of the festival as one of the leading Jazz events worldwide. Under Cohen's direction in 2009, the festival showcased young talent and original compositions along with world-renowned jazz artists. The festival is held in the last week of August. A 3-day Winter Jazz Festival, held on the third weekend in January, was initiated in 2010. (en)
- Le Red Sea Jazz Festival est un festival de jazz qui se déroule chaque année pendant la dernière semaine du mois d'août à Eilat, en Israël. Le premier Red Sea Jazz Festival a eu lieu en 1987. Le festival dure quatre jours et propose 9-10 concerts par soir, 6 ateliers avec des artistes invités et des sessions de jam tous les soirs. Tous les spectacles ont lieu à l'extérieur sur le port de Eilat. Les ateliers ont lieu dans un hôtel proche. Le festival offre des spectacles par des artistes de jazz internationaux ainsi que des talents locaux. Il a aussi été l'occasion pour certains artistes de collaborer, et certaines productions ont été effectuées en exclusivité pour le festival. Ces productions ont été jouées par Randy Brecker & , The Jazz Beatles, Miroslav Vitouš & John Abercrombie et Charlie Haden & John Scofield. Le festival attire 70 000 spectateurs, avec une moyenne de 2 500 personnes par concert. Il est organisé par une association à but non lucratif, et a le soutien de la municipalité de Eilat, du ministre de la Culture et du Tourisme, de l'association des hôtels de Eilat ainsi que d'autres partenaires commerciaux. Le bassiste de jazz Avishai Cohen a été nommé directeur artistique du festival en 2008 pour remplacer Dan Gottfried, qui a créé le festival et qui a occupé ce poste pendant 22 ans.
