- Der Rappenkrieg dauerte von 1591 bis 1594, war ein Konflikt zwischen der Stadt Basel und der Landschaft und eine Bauernerhebung gegen ein erhöhtes Weinumgeld (Umsatzsteuer). Den Namen erhielt der Aufstand wegen der Münzeinheit Rappen. Er ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem vorderösterreichischen Rappenkrieg von 1612 bis 1614 im angrenzenden Fricktal und am Hochrhein, obwohl er ähnliche Ursachen hatte. (de)
- La guerre du Rappen (allemand : Rappenkrieg) désigne un conflit qui s'est déroulé en Suisse de 1591 à 1594 et qui opposa le canton de Bâle au canton de Bâle-Campagne. Les paysans de Bâle-Campagne se soulevèrent à l'annonce de l'augmentation des impôts sur le vin et la viande. L'affrontement dura plusieurs années et se termina grâce aux négociations menées par Andreas Ryff. Le nom de la guerre vient de Rappen qui signifie centime ou sou en allemand. (fr)
- The Rappenkrieg was a peasant uprising lasting from 1591–1594, involving a conflict between the Swiss city of Basel and the surrounding Prince-Bishopric of Basel. At issue was an increase in the rate of sales tax on wine and meat. After several years the conflict was ended through negotiations headed up by the Basel merchant turned politician Andreas Ryff. The name "Rappenkrieg" comes from the local word, Rappen, then as now the term for a low value coin: "Rappenkrieg" can be loosely translated as the "Pence/Cents War". The Basel Rappenkrieg is not to be confused with the Rappenkrieg in Western Austria from 1612 to 1614 in the adjacent Fricktal and the Rhine, although both had similar causes. (en)
- Tzw. Wojna o centy (niem. Rappenkrieg) miała miejsce w latach 1591-1594. Był to konflikt pomiędzy miastem Bazylea a chłopami z prowincji, którzy wystąpili przeciwko zwiększonym podatkom. Zryw ten swoją nazwę wywodzi od jednostki monetarnej w Szwajcarii- centa (niem. Rappen - cent szwajcarski). Konflikt przyrównywany jest często do powstania chłopskiego z lat 1612-1614 we Fricktal, które wybuchło z podobnych przyczyn. (pl)
