- Como sociedad científica, la Sociedad del Cuaternión (nombre original en inglés: Quaternion Society) fue una "Asociación Internacional para la Promoción del Estudio de los Cuaterniones y Sistemas Afines de Matemáticas". En su apogeo, estaba formado por unos 60 matemáticos repartidos por todo el mundo académico, que experimentaban con cuaterniones y otros sistemas de números hipercomplejos. Alexander Macfarlane, quien ocupó el cargo de secretario, se convirtió en presidente en 1909. La Asociación publicó una Bibliografía en 1904 y un Boletín (informe anual) de 1900 a 1913. El Boletín se convirtió en una de temas de análisis de vectores y álgebra abstracta, como la teoría de la equipolencia. - The Quaternion Society was a scientific society, self-described as an "International Association for Promoting the Study of Quaternions and Allied Systems of Mathematics". At its peak it consisted of about 60 mathematicians spread throughout the academic world that were experimenting with quaternions and other hypercomplex number systems. The group's guiding light was Alexander Macfarlane who served as its secretary initially, and became president in 1909. The association published a Bibliography in 1904 and a Bulletin (annual report) from 1900 to 1913. The Bulletin became a review journal for topics in vector analysis and abstract algebra such as the theory of equipollence. The mathematical work reviewed pertained largely to matrices and linear algebra as the methods were in rapid development at the time. (en)
