- El Comitè Permanent Interestatal per a la Lluita contra la Sequera al Sahel (CILSS) és una organització internacional que reagrupa els països del Sahel. Va ser creat el 1973, durant la primera gran sequera a la regió amb la finalitat de mobilitzar a les poblacions del Sahel i la comunitat internacional entorn de l'ajuda d'urgència i de l'aposta en marxa dels programes en diferents temes: agricultura pluvial, hidràulica, medi ambient, transport, comunicació. El 1995 va centrar les seves activitats entorn de la seguretat alimentària i a la gestió dels recursos naturals. La secretaria executiva està a Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). El centre agrohidromètric (AGRHYMET) creat per l'Organització Meteorològica Mundial, està a Niamey (Níger) i l'Institut del Sahel, centre de recerca agrosocioeconòmica i sobre la «població i el desenvolupament», està situat a Bamako (Mali). Des del 26 de juliol de 2013 el secretari executiu del CILSS és Djimé Adoum, del Txad, que va succeir el malià Alhousseïni Bretaudeau i que va estar sis anys al capdavant d'aquesta organització. (ca)
- Das Comité permanent inter-États de lutte contre la sécheresse dans le Sahel („Ständiges zwischenstaatliches Komitee zur Bekämpfung der Dürre im Sahel“), kurz CILSS, ist eine zwischenstaatliche Organisation, der die Länder der Sahelzone angehören. Das CILSS wurde 1973 angesichts der Dürre und Hungersnot in der Sahelzone gegründet, um die Bevölkerung der Sahelländer wie die internationale Gemeinschaft für Maßnahmen in den Bereichen Landwirtschaft, Wasserbewirtschaftung, Umwelt, Transport und Kommunikation zu mobilisieren. 1995 richtete es seine Aktivitäten vorwiegend auf die Bereiche Ernährungssicherheit und Bewirtschaftung der natürlichen Ressourcen aus. Geschäftsführer war von 2001 der ehemalige gambische Landwirtschaftsminister Musa Mbenga, dessen zweite dreijährige Amtszeit 2007 auslief. Danach stand Alhousseïni Bretaudeau aus Mali für 6 Jahre an der Spitze dieser Organisation. Seit dem 26. Juli 2013 ist der Exekutivsekretär von CILSS Djimé Adoum aus dem Tschad. Das Hauptbüro (secrétariat exécutif) befindet sich in Ouagadougou, die agro-hydrometrische Einrichtung Centre Régional AGRHYMET in Niamey und das Sahel-Institut in Bamako. (de)

Fue creado en 1973, durante la primera gran sequía en la región con el fin de movilizar a las poblaciones del Sahel y la comunidad internacional en torno a la ayuda de urgencia y de la apuesta en marcha de los programas en diferentes temas : agricultura pluvial, hidráulica, medio ambiente, transporte, comunicación. En 1995 centró sus actividades en torno a la seguridad alimentaria y a la gestión de los recursos naturales. La secretaría ejecutiva está en Uagadugú (Burkina Faso). El centro agro-hydrométrico (AGRHYMET) creado por la Organización meteorológica mundial, está en Niamey (Níger) y el Instituto del Sahel, centro de investigación agro-socio-económica y sobre la « población y el desarrollo », está ubicado en Bamako (Malí). Desde el 26 de julio de 2013 el Secretario Ejecutivo del CILSS es Djimé Adoum de Chad, que sucedió a Alhousseïni Bretaudeau de Mali y que estuvo seis años a la cabeza de esta organización. (es)

- The Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (French: Comité permanent inter-État de lutte contre la sécheresse au Sahel, abbreviated as CILSS) is an international organization consisting of countries in the Sahel region of Africa. According to the official homepage, the organization's mandate is to invest in research for food security and the fight against the effects of drought and desertification for a new ecological balance in the Sahel. The Sahel is a transition area between the very dry North and tropical forests on the coast. It mostly displays bushes, herbs and very small trees and does not offer regular harvests to its inhabitants. Main characteristics include:
* a very irregular and little predictable rainfall, from 200 mm to 2500 mm
* predominance of agriculture and husbandry. More than half of the inhabitants are farmers and agriculture contributes more than 40% to the GDP
* high demographic growth (around 3.1%) and high urban growth (around 7%) The CILSS was created in 1973 during the first great drought in the region with the aim of mobilizing the population in the Sahel and the international community to facilitate urgent need and the organization of works in various domains i.e. rainfed and irrigated agriculture, environment, transport, and communication. In 1995 it centered its activities on basic food security and the use of natural resources. The executive office is located in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. List of countries that are a member:
