Sie entwickelten ähnliche Merkmale wie die Hyänen und dürften die ökologische Nische der großen aasfressenden Hyänen besetzt haben, als die Hyänen selbst noch ausschließlich aus kleinen schleichkatzenartigen Formen bestanden.
