- Parteinahe Stiftungen (auch politische Stiftungen, in Österreich Parteiakademie) sind den politischen Parteien nahestehende Institutionen zum Zweck der politischen Bildung, die aber von den ihnen nahestehenden politischen Parteien getrennt sind. Die Finanzierung der Arbeit der parteinahen Stiftungen erfolgt dabei größtenteils aus staatlichen Mitteln. Damit handelt es sich in der Regel nicht um Stiftungen im eigentlichen Sinn, da sie nicht durch das Vermögen eines Stifters finanziert sind. Die Politikstiftungen arbeiten, im Gegensatz zu den Parteien, auch im Ausland; die entsprechenden Organisationen in den Vereinigten Staaten sogar ausschließlich. Im European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) arbeiten 55 politischen Stiftungen aus 23 Ländern in Europa zusammen, die den sechs wichtigsten Parteienfamilien Europas (Christdemokraten, Sozialdemokraten, Konservative, Liberale, Grüne, Linke) angehören. - A party political foundation (German: Parteinahe Stiftung or Parteistiftung) in Germany is a state-subsidised political foundation that's affiliated to a political party. There are seven foundations at the federal level: one for each party represented in the federal parliament (Bundestag). The major characteristics of all such organizations is that they do party related work like general information about the ideological cause, training of volunteers, publication of pamphlets and international aid for democracy building (in co-operation with partners around the world). The party political foundations receive 95% of their funding from government grants, thus blurring the definition of 'non-governmental organisation'. Most do not even have the legal status of 'foundation'. Similar institutions have also been organized in the Netherlands, Austria, France and Greece. In the U.K. and the U.S. the general setup differs because institutions like the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) or the International Republican Institute (IRI) are limited to responsibilities in international aid. The same applies for the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD). (en)
- A fundação partidária de estudo e pesquisa, ou simplesmente fundação partidária, é um tipo de instituição vinculada a determinado partido político voltada a assuntos como educação política e formulação e discussão de projetos políticos em conformidade a diretrizes e princípios ideológicos do partido político que a mantém. Na Alemanha, existem a Fundação Friedrich Ebert (vinculada ao Partido Social-Democrata da Alemanha), a Fundação Konrad Adenauer (ligada ao partido União Democrata-Cristã), a (vinculada ao partido alemão A Esquerda), a (ligada ao Partido Democrático Liberal). Tais instituições alemãs inspiraram as fundações partidárias brasileiras. O MDB na década de 1980 teria sido um dos primeiros partidos que começou a implantar, por conta própria, uma fundação partidária com esse propósito de promoção da educação política. Contudo, essas fundações partidárias somente passaram a ser implantada de maneira mais efetiva no país a partir de 1995, quando foi aprovada a Lei dos Partidos Políticos. (pt)
