Segeler (1901-1989), enginyer de combustió d'atmosfera de l'America Gas Association, qui va inventar la regla general utilitzada per estimar el consum d'energia per a la calefacció de la llar. Fue descubierto en 1974 en las Black Hills, Dakota del Sur, por el mineralogista amateur norteamericano, especialista en minerales del fosfato, Curt G. Segeler (1901-1989), Es muy parecido y casi el mismo mineral que la , con una fórmula muy parecida solo que sustituyendo el hierro por aluminio. Otro mineral parecido es la , sustituyendo el hierro por escandio. (es)
- Segelerite is a complex phosphate mineral with formula CaMgFe3+OH(PO4)2·H2O. It occurs in pegmatites and forms striking green or chartreuse crystals. It was discovered in 1974 in the Black Hills of South Dakota by an amateur mineralogist from New York, (1901–1989), after whom it is named. It is closely related to overite which is virtually the same mineral except that the iron is replaced by aluminium. Another mineral in the same series is juonniite wherein the iron is also replaced, this time by scandium. (en)
