Son nom est celui d'un village du Kansas où le militant blanc anti-esclavagiste John Brown mena une bataille en 1856. Brown était l'une des références de Malcolm X, qui luttait pour le Black Power et était lui-même une référence du Weather Underground, qui se disait anti-raciste et anti-impérialiste.
