- Die Operation Crimp, später umbenannt in Operation Buckskin, war eine kombinierte Operation US-amerikanischer und australischer Streitkräfte im Vietnamkrieg. Als Einsatzziel galt zunächst das Aufspüren und Vernichten des politisch-militärischen Hauptquartiers der 4. Militärregion des Vietcong in den Wäldern der Provinz Tây Ninh.Man glaubte, dass sich in dieser Zone das Zentrum der gesamten Aktivitäten der Vietcong in Südvietnam befinden würde. Die Operation dauerte vom 7. bis 13. Januar 1966 und war bis dato eine der größten Militäroperationen im Vietnamkrieg. Es waren schätzungsweise 8.000 Soldaten der 1. US-Infanteriedivision, der 173. US-Luftlandebrigade und des im Einsatz. Zu Beginn wurden 30 Tonnen schwere Bomben durch B-52-Langstreckenbomber über dem Operationsraum im abgeworfen und verwandelten diesen in eine pockennarbige Mondlandschaft. Die Streitkräfte und der Verfügungsraum der Vietcong konnten zunächst nicht lokalisiert werden, es deutete jedoch alles darauf hin, dass sich die Vietcong in ausgedehnte unterirdische Tunnelsysteme mit einer komplexen Infrastruktur zurückgezogen hatten.Das Einsatzziel wurde dahingehend verändert, nunmehr die Tunnel aufzuspüren, zu zerstören und zu versiegeln. Die Australier entdeckten als Erste die Tunnel von Củ Chi. Elitesoldaten stiegen in die Tunnel hinab, um den Gegner im Nahkampf zu bekämpfen. Hierbei wurden auch zahlreiche Dokumente erbeutet. Die US-Streitkräfte versuchten demgegenüber zunächst, die Tunnel auszuräuchern und sie dann mit Reizgasen zu füllen oder durch Sprengungen zum Einsturz zu bringen.Nachdem dieses Vorgehen nicht den gewünschten Erfolg mit sich brachte, gingen auch die Amerikaner dazu über, speziell ausgebildete „Tunnelratten“ einzusetzen. Militärisch war die Operation Crimp ein Fehlschlag. Es gab keinen klar definierten Frontverlauf. Die Vietcong konnten von ihren unterirdischen Stellungen aus nächtliche Feuerüberfälle durchführen und sofort wieder unbemerkt verschwinden. Scharfschützen der Vietcong konnten aus dem Verborgenen US-Offiziere töten oder verwunden. Im Verlauf des Einsatzes wurden 126 Vietcong getötet. (de)

- Operation Crimp (8–14 January 1966), also known as the Battle of the Ho Bo Woods, was a joint US-Australian military operation during the Vietnam War, which took place 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of Cu Chi in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam. The operation targeted a key Viet Cong headquarters that was believed to be concealed underground, and involved two brigades under the command of the US 1st Infantry Division, including the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (1 RAR) which was attached to the US 173rd Airborne Brigade. Heavy fighting resulted in significant casualties on both sides, but the combined American and Australian force was able to uncover an extensive tunnel network covering more than 200 kilometres (120 miles), at the cost of 8 Australians and 14 Americans killed and 29 Australians and 76 Americans wounded. The operation was the largest allied military action mounted during the war in South Vietnam to that point, and the first fought at division level. Despite some success, the allied force was only able to partially clear the area and it remained a key communist transit and supply base throughout the war. The tunnels were later used as a staging area for the attack on Saigon during the 1968 Tet offensive before they were largely destroyed by heavy bombing from American B-52 bombers in 1970, ending their utility. L'obiettivo dell'operazione era un comando Vietcong mimetizzato in una serie di tunnel sotterranei. Vi presero parte due brigate sotto il comando della 1st Infantry Division e il , operante insieme alla 173rd Airborne Brigade.
