- Die International One Metre, kurz IOM, bezeichnet eine Klassifizierung im Bereich der funkferngesteuerten Modell-Segelboote, die für Rennzwecke eingesetzt werden. Dies geschieht nach den Wettfahrtregeln der World Sailing, dem Weltverband aller Segelsportarten. Der Name der Klasse lehnt sich an das Hauptmerkmal der Boote an: Die Rumpflänge von einem Meter. Die IOM-Klassenregeln legen z. B. die Segelgröße und die Hauptdimensionen des Bootes fest (Verdrängung, Länge, Entwurf), wobei es doch einige Freiheiten beim Rumpfdesign gibt. Die Verbreitung dieser Klasse wurde durch die vorgegebenen, relativ preiswerten Materialien und Werkstoffe begünstigt. Die Verwendung von Hochtechnologie-Materialien ist (bis auf geringe Ausnahmen) ausgeschlossen. Das Mindestgewicht ist mit 4000 g festgelegt. Ebenso der Tiefgang mit 420 mm. Es sind drei fest definierte Riggs vorgegeben. Es gibt seit Jahren eine Vielzahl von nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben. (de)

It is a measurement-controlled box rule originally created by the ISAF-RSD (now the International Radio Sailing Association) in 1988 in an attempt to harmonise the various one metre rules created around the world. The IOM Class Rules specify a standardised sail plan and control of the other major performance dimensions (displacement, length, and draught) while allowing some freedom in hull design. The IOM is now the largest and arguably most competitive of all radio sailing classes. (en)
- La International One Metre (ovvero Classe Un Metro) è una classe di imbarcazioni radiocomandate della lunghezza di 1 metro. Gli scafi che appartengono a questa classe di imbarcazioni devono rigorosamente attenersi alle rigide regole di stazza imposte dall'ISAF–RSD Permanent Committee, il quale ha facoltà di aggiornarne i contenuti annualmente. La classe è stata sviluppata dal ed adottata come classe internazionale nel 1988. Tra gli scafi radiocomandati la classe "1 Metro" è sicuramente quella che vanta un maggior numero di partecipanti, e dà vita ogni anno a campionati nazionali e internazionali di altissimo livello. In Italia le regate di questa classe sono regolamentate dalla "Lega Navimodellistica Sportiva Modelvela Italia", associazione costituita nel 1979 con sede a Genova ed è riconosciuta, quale unico ente per la vela RC, dalla Federazione Italiana Vela e dal CONI. È inoltre affiliata all'International Sailing Federation (ISAF-RSD). La sua presenza sul territorio è garantita dai Circoli e dalle Associazioni, ad essa affiliati, presenti in tutte le regioni del paese, i quali annoverano centinaia di iscritti. (it)
