- Els boscos d’espines del nord-oest són una ecoregió xèrica de Pakistan i nord de l'Índia, que s’estén per les terres baixes i turons fronterers entre els dos països. Un cop coberta en el passat de bosc caducifoli, aquesta ecoregió s’ha degradat a través de la pràctica de l’agricultura i de l'extracció de fusta de manera que actualment presenta una escassa cobertura de matolls espinosos dominats per arbres com Acacia senegal, Acacia leucophloea i Prosopis cineraria. Quan els sòls són particularment salins, hi ha pedaços de semidesert. En aquest hàbitat es troben diversos mamífers i unes quatre-centes espècies d'aus. Algunes zones petites estan protegides, però continua la recollida de llenya i la conversió de la terra en agricultura i ramaderia de subsistència. (ca)
- The Northwestern thorn scrub forests, presently known as Aravalli west thorn scrub forests, is a xeric shrubland ecoregion of Pakistan and Northern India, stretching along the border lowlands and hills between the two countries. Once covered in deciduous forest, this ecoregion has been degraded through agriculture and the extraction of timber so that it currently has a scanty covering of thorny scrub dominated by such trees as Acacia senegal, Acacia leucophloea and Prosopis cineraria. Where the soils are particularly saline, there are patches of semi-desert. A number of mammals are found in this habitat, including about four hundred species of bird. Some small areas are protected but the collection of firewood and the conversion of the land to subsistence farming continues. (en)
