- Nil (stylisé comme nil ) est un groupe de rock japonais formé en 1998 par Tetsu Takano (ex- Malice Mizer, ex-Mega8Ball, ex- Zigzo, The JuneJulyAugust), Hiroyuki Kashimoto et Kyoshi Moro. L'intention premiere de Nil était de devenir le projet solo de Tetsu. Malgré le fait que le groupe soit officiellement formé, Tetsu reste le seul parolier et compositeur. Durant sa premiere incarnation, le groupe n'a que très brièvement duré, et se séparera temporairement a la fin de l'année 1998. Nil ne refera pas surface avant milieu 2002, reprenant les sessions d'enregistrement. Tetsu, lui, forma son propre label, Afro Skull Records. Littéralement, le nom Nil signifie zéro absolu, mais son acronyme fait référence a un langage natif irréligieux. En 2005, Nil a rencontré de nombreux obstacles, provoquant le départ de ses membres fondateurs Kashimoto et Moro, qui quittèrent le groupe le 10 Janvier 2005, dernier jour de leur tournée intitulée Touring Inferno. Le batteur Furuton (anciennement batteur pour Oblivion Dust et Mega8Ball) quitta également le groupe 6 mois plus tard. Au cours du reste de l'année 2005, le bassiste Masaru Kobayashi (ex-Soy Sauce Sonix, ex-, ) et le batteur Kazama Hiroyuki (ex-Fantastic Designs) rejoignirent tous deux le groupe. Au cours des années suivant la reprise de leurs activités, Nil enregistra et publia cinq albums, sept mini albums, un album de reprises, un album live, un album de compilations, trois singles, deux CD destinés a leurs fan clubs et huit DVD. Testu déclara que Nil était l'oeuvre de sa vie, et malgré les quelques obstacles et rebondissements, il ne montra aucun signe de ralentissement vis a vis de sa musique avec le groupe Nil. (fr)

The band only lasted briefly during its first incarnation and went on hiatus by the end of 1998. It would not resurface until the middle of 2002 when they would start recording again and Tetsu formed his own record label, Afro Skull Records. The name "Nil" literally means "absolute zero" and as an acronym refers to "native irreligious language". In 2005, Nil had many setbacks which resulted in the departure of founding members Kashimoto and Moro who both left the band on January 10, 2005, the last day of the "Touring Inferno" tour. Eventually replacement drummer Furuton (ex-Oblivion Dust, ex-Mega8Ball support) left the band after only 6 months. By the end of 2005 Nil finally settled down with the addition of Masaru Kobayashi (ex-Soy Sauce Sonix, ex-Sads, The Cro-Magnons) on bass and Kazama Hiroyuki (ex-Fantastic Designs) on drums. In the years since resuming activities, Nil has recorded and released 5 full albums, 7 mini albums, 1 cover album, 1 live album, 1 compilation album, 3 singles, 2 fan-club only CDs and 8 DVDs. Tetsu has claimed that Nil is his life's work and despite some bumps in the road he has showed no signs of slowing down with his music and the band Nil. (en)

- nil – japoński zespół muzyczny, trio rockowe założone w 1998 przez Tetsu Takano, Kazama Hiroyuki i Moro Kyoshii. W pierwszej fazie swojego istnienia zespół do końca 1998 zdążył zawiesić swoją działalność którą wznowił w 2002. Wtedy też pojawiły się pierwsze nagrania grupy. W 2005 zespół pojawił się w nowym składzie (z Takano nadal sprawującym funkcje lidera, wokalisty, gitarzysty i tekściarza). W wyniku niepowodzeń z zespołu odeszli Hiroyuki i Kyoshii których zastąpili Hiroyuki i Sota. Po niespełna 6 miesiącach Ofuruton Sota powrócił do swojego dawnego zespołu i do końca 2005 ostatecznym perkusistą grupy został Kazama Hiroyuki. (pl)
