- إدارة المخابرات الحربية والاستطلاع هي إحدى إدارات وزارة الدفاع المصرية، «تعرف اختصارا باسم المخابرات الحربية». هي الإدارة التي تختص بمتابعة القضايا المتصلة بالأمن القومي من الناحية العسكرية، ومتابعة وقراءة واستطلاع تحركات العدو وجمع المعلومات الخاصة بتشكيلاته القتالية واستعداداته في حالة السلم والحرب، ومسح الواقع الميداني للعمليات العسكرية بما فيها المسح الجغرافي ومطابقتها مع الخرائط العسكرية التفصيلية وتقديم هذه المعلومات إلى القيادة العسكرية والسياسية لتقدير الموقف على الأرض، ولذلك يُعد عملها حاسما في تقدير الموقف الإستراتيجي. تقوم الإدارة أيضاً بالتخطيط والتنسيق مع الشرطة العسكرية لضمان أمن المنشآت العسكرية والثكنات ومراقبة مستوي الأمن في المنشآت العسكرية بما في ذلك أمن الوثائق والأفراد والأسلحة، كما تستخدم مصادر المعلومات المتوفرة لمراقبة نشاطات العدو العسكرية، وتختص بالتأكد من حسن انضباط وولاء الضباط والأفراد، وتتعاون الإدارة مع أجهزة الاستخبارات الأخرى بالدولة لتبادل المعلومات وإنجاز المهمات بما يضمن تحقيق الأمن الوطني. وهي ثاني هيئة استخباراتية مصرية من حيث النشأة التاريخية، بعد جهاز الاستخبارات الشرطي القلم السياسي (الأمن الوطني حالياً) والذي أنشئ عام 1922، ويليها في المرتبة الثالثة جهاز المخابرات العامة الذي أنشئ عام 1954. - Verified The Military Intelligence and Reconnaissance Administration (Arabic: إدارة المخابرات الحربية والاستطلاع, romanized: Idarah Al Mukhabarat Al Ḥarbiya Wal Istitlaʾ), is the agency of the Egyptian Ministry of Defence responsible for military intelligence. It is one of the three Egyptian intelligence services, along with the General Intelligence Directorate and Homeland Security. A number of senior army officers have led the agency, including Field Marshal Abdel-Halim Abu Ghazala, a former defence minister, Gen. Omar Suleiman, the former vice president and former head of the General Intelligence Service, and Major General Murad Muwafi President of the General Intelligence Service, who was appointed successor to Suleiman in January / December 2011. Specialties of the agency include reconnaissance to discover enemy movements, collecting information on enemy formations and preparations in wartime and peacetime, and geographical surveys. The agency has also, since the time of Abdul Nasser, conducted an internal mission to detect anti-regime elements within the military. Historically, the agency suffered two major blows: failing to predict the Israeli attack on Egypt in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, and failing to stop the assassination of President Anwar Sadat by Islamists linked to the military in 1981. According to General Mohammad Sadiq (1917-1991), director of intelligence during the 1967 war, the most important reason for the intelligence failure then was the lack of coordination between GID and military intelligence.
