- Ĉirkaŭ la jaro 2000 la urba registaro de Medellín en Kolombio decidis konstrui telferojn ĝis la supraj mizerkvartaloj Santo Domingo kaj La Aurora ĉe la deklivoj de la Abburá-valo. La dua plej granda urbo de Kolombio tiam estis konsiderata la plej krimdanĝera en la mondo. Furoris la drogomilito, do tiel la loka municipa registaro estis malforta. Ankoraŭ en la jaro 2009 la kvoto da murdoj de Medelino superis tiujn de usonaj urboj je pli ol la 20-oblo. La telfero nomata "Metrocable" forpelis la problemojn - tagon post tago. La kvoto da krimoj reduktiĝis danke al infrastrukturaj kaj sociaj realigaĵoj al preskaŭ nulo. Vandalismo apenaŭ okazas. Intertempe Medelino fariĝas modelo. Ankaŭ en Panamo-urbo, en Karakaso kaj en Rio de Ĵanejro la enspezoj el protektado de la klimato el telfero devos kunfinanci la urban disvolvon. (eo)

Está compuesto por seis líneas de servicio comercial: J, K, H, L, M y P, que suman una extensión total de 14,62 kilómetros. Cuenta con quince estaciones en operación, todas adaptadas para facilitar el ingreso a personas con movilidad reducida (PRM). Fue inaugurado el 7 de agosto de 2004. Forma parte del SITVA, junto al metro de Medellín, al Metroplús, al Tranvía de Ayacucho, a EnCicla y al SIT. (es)

Tous ces moyens, ainsi que les bus classiques du SITVA (Sistema integrado de transporte del Valle del Aburrá) sont intégrés (Carte de transport et facturation uniques). Cet aménagement a fait de Medellín un modèle de développement. Medellín est une ville de la vallée de l’Aburra, environnée de hauteurs. On trouve dans ces hauteurs des quartiers pauvres — barrios, voire — : l’importance des dénivelés, l'étroitesse et la sinuosité des rues y rendent difficile la mise en place de transports collectifs terrestres, même si la desserte par des busetas (minibus) est également importante. - Metrocable is a gondola lift system implemented by the City Council of Medellín, Colombia, with the purpose of providing a transportation service that complements the Medellín Metro. It was designed to reach some of the city's informal settlements on the steep hills that mark its topography. It is largely considered to be the first urban cable propelled transit system in South America.The transportation infrastructure is already established and has been in service since 2004, although there are currently no official links between the gondolas themselves and the Metro line. The system consists of a network of 16 pre-existing gondolas. However, in these systems the passengers ride through windows attached to the inside of the gondola, and therefore do not have to interact with others. There were plans in the city for some decades before its inception for some form of transportation that took account of the difficult topography of the region. These ideas date back to the use of cable-car technology for exporting coffee (Manizales - Mariquita Cableway) starting in the 1930s between the city of Manizales, to the south of Medellín, and the Cauca River 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) below. In its modern incarnation, it was the result of a joint effort between the city's elected mayor, Luis Pérez Gutiérrez, and the Metro Company. For some, the initial conception of this system was indirectly inspired by the Caracas Aerial Tramway (also known as the Mount Avila Gondola) which was designed primarily to carry passengers to a luxury hotel in the 1950s. Line K of the Metrocable connecting the Medellín River valley to the steep hills in Comunas (districts) 1 and 2, was the first system in the world dedicated to public transport, with a fixed service schedule. Since starting operations in 2004, it carries 30,000 people daily and is operationally integrated into the rest of Medellín's mass transit system (SITVA), which includes the overground Metro, bus rapid transit system (BRT) and a tramway line (opened in 2016). As of 2020, the Medellín Metrocable system has five lines, namely Line H, Line K, Line J, Line L (Cable Arvi) and Line M. Overall, the system has been received with enthusiasm by the locals, who are mainly low-income users and are prepared to queue for up to 45 minutes at peak times to use it. There is a rapidly growing number of similar systems in cities in Latin America (Metrocable (Caracas), Mi Teleférico (La Paz), Manizales, Cali, TransMiCable (Bogotá), Mexicable near Mexico City, among others) and elsewhere. Si compone di sei linee, identificate con lettere e colori differenti, per una lunghezza totale di 14,52 km e 20 stazioni. È gestita dalla società Metro de Medellín. Medellín è stata la prima città al mondo ad implementare un sistema di cabinovie da adibire a mezzo di trasporto pubblico, con l'obiettivo anche di abbattere le disuguaglianze sociali di alcuni quartieri cittadini raggiunti dall'infrastruttura. É composto atualmente por 4 linhas em operação, que somam 13 estações e 10,7 km de extensão. O sistema entrou em operação no dia 7 de agosto de 2004, com a abertura da Linha K. A encontra-se em implantação. Faz parte do Sistema Integrado de Transporte do Vale do Aburrá (SITVA), junto com o Metrô de Medellín, a Tranvía de Ayacucho, o Metroplús e o EnCicla. Atende o município de Medellín, que foi a primeira cidade da América Latina a utilizar o teleférico como meio de transporte de massa, facilitando o acesso de pessoas que moram em regiões de difícil acesso ao transporte público.
