- Mario Guillermo Desbordes Jiménez (Los Andes, 15 de octubre de 1968) es un abogado, político y excarabinero chileno, militante de Renovación Nacional (RN), partido del cual fue secretario general entre diciembre de 2010 y marzo de 2018, cuando pasó a ser presidente del mismo, dejando el cargo en julio de 2020. En 2017 fue elegido como diputado por el distrito N.° 8 de la Región Metropolitana para el periodo 2018-2022, sin finalizarlo, luego de haber sido nombrado como ministro de Defensa por el presidente Sebastián Piñera, el 28 de julio de 2020, y del que cesó, tras renuncia, el 18 de diciembre de 2020, para iniciar su candidatura presidencial por Renovación Nacional. Anteriormente entre marzo y diciembre de 2010 se desempeñó como subsecretario de Investigaciones, bajo el primer gobierno de Piñera. (es)
- Mario Guillermo Desbordes Jiménez (born 15 October 1968) is a Chilean politician and former police officer of Carabineros de Chile. He became minister of Defense in July 2020. Desbordes was a member of Congress in the Chamber of Deputies and also the president of National Renewal from 2018 to 2020. Likewise, he was secretary-general of his party (2010−2018) and, during President Sebastián Piñera's first administration, Desbordes had a spell as undersecretary of Investigations. Known in Chile for his «social right-wing» project, he played a key role in the 2019 agreement for a plebiscite towards a new constitution to replace the 1980 Constitution. Likewise, after the agreement, he mentioned to the press that he decided to vote «Approve» a new text (winner option) in the entry plebiscite held on October 25, 2020. Nevertheless, two years later, he opted for the «Reject» option in the exit plebiscite after his dissatisfaction with the proposal of the Constitutional Convention. In July 2021 Desbordes finished last in a four-way Chile Vamos primary, ending his presidential run. (en)
