- La Mafia K'1 Fry – prononcer Mafia Cainfri, Cainfri étant le verlan d'Africain(e) – est un collectif de hip-hop français originaire du Val-de-Marne. Il a été fondé en 1995 par certains rappeurs français notables, tels que Manu Key, Kery James, Karlito, le groupe Intouchable, Rohff et le groupe 113. Le nom Mafia K'1 Fry apparaît en 1994 mais l'histoire commence dès 1991, alors que Manu Key écrit déjà des textes dans une MJC à Orly et que Kery James vient le voir régulièrement : "Il avait 13 ans, il venait chaque mercredi avec des nouveaux textes, il ne se trompait pas, le rap c’était inné, il avait ça en lui." Manu Key le prend sous son aile et monte le groupe Idéal J. Il rencontre peu après Rohff, qui lui fait un rap à l’arrière du bus entre Porte de Choisy et l’aéroport d'Orly. Deux albums du collectif se sont classés dans le top 10 des ventes en France : Jusqu'à la mort (7e) et La Cerise sur le ghetto (8e), tandis que le DVD "Si tu roules avec la Mafia K'1 Fry" a atteint la trente et unième place dans sa catégorie. Le collectif est, entre autres, connu à cause des décès ayant affecté le groupe Intouchable (Mamad, Las Montana et Kimbak du Val-de-Marne). Outre des chanteurs et des musiciens, le collectif compte des breakeurs (Mokobé, Selim du 9.4, Teddy Corona), des graffeurs (AP, Douma), des backers sur scène (Las Montana, Mamad, Rocco, OGB), des beatboxeurs (Mista Flo) et des DJ (DJ Mehdi, DJ Mosko). Le parcours de Teddy Corona, parmi d'autres, illustre cette versatilité : breakeur à l'origine, c'est un ancien membre d'Ideal J qui a ensuite produit les albums O'riginal MC's (1996) et Le Combat Continue (1998). Il est également l'initiateur du projet Street Lourd Hall Stars (Small Records), compilation sortie en novembre 2004 avec DJ Mosko, Mista Flo et Rocco. Le volume II est publié le 19 juillet 2010. Titi l'ancien, de son vrai nom Thierry Pandore, décède en Guadeloupe le 8 février 2019 des suites d'une longue maladie. Rohff, Kery James, OGB, Karlito, Terry Corona, Mokobé, Patrick Timal, Demon One et Dry lui ont rendu hommage sur Instagram. Le collectif est également lié à la marque de vêtements Mafia K'1 Fry Clothing. (fr)
- Mafia K-1 Fry sometimes stylized as Mafia K'1 Fry is a French collective of hip hop artists, rappers, beatboxers, DJs, MCs and music producers mostly coming from the Val-de-Marne and the Orly-Choisy-Vitry-Joinville axis (being locations in Orly - Choisy-le-Roi - Vitry-sur-Seine -Joinville-le-Pont), suburbs located south of Paris. It was founded in 1995 with an initiative by Douma le Parrain. The name Mafia K'1 Fry comes from a rap verse during a freestyle improvised in à Orly at the "Demi-Lune": "Tu peux pas test avec la Mafia K'1 Fry," (You can't f*ck with the Mafia K'1 Fry") with "K'1 Fry" being a verlan term for africain, hence, translated into English, African Mafia. It was also known as "L'Union" and later "113 Clan". Las Montana was also a leader in the group that suffered from many legal problems as many of its members went to prison on certain charges. The members of Intouchable were hit by even bigger problems with a series of deaths of its members like Mamad, Las Montana and M.S. The diverse group concentrated on Hip-Hop, but there were also breakdancers like Mokobé, Selim du 94 and Teddy Corona, graffiti artists like AP and Douma, backers like Las Montana, Mamad, Rocco, OGB, beatboxers like Mista Flo and DJs like DJ Mehdi and DJ Mosko. Besides solo projects by many of its members, the collective realised two mini albums: Les Liens Sacrés and Légendaire before departure of Kery James in 2003 (he rejoined in 2007), and death of certain members most notably Las Montana and disappearance of M.S. Some members had big commercial success like 113 and Rohff and Intouchable (with Dry, Demon One and Mamad) before Mamad's death in 2003 just after the collective joint album La cerise sur le ghetto, which marked the release of music videos for "Pour ceux" [1] and "Balance" [2]. The period was marked by the departure of Popa Project and Rohff although keeping some nominal relations with the collective, with Rohff. In 2007, the collective released its biggest successful album Jusqu'à la mort (#7 in French albums chart). Mafia K'1 Fry will be releasing a new title in 2012. (en)
