- Der Long-Gletscher ist ein 13 km langer Gletscher im südöstlichen Teil der Thurston-Insel vor der Eights-Küste des westantarktischen Ellsworthlands. Er fließt 22 km westlich des Harrison-Nunatak in südlicher Richtung zum Abbot-Schelfeis im Peacock-Sund. Der United States Geological Survey kartierte ihn anhand von Luftaufnahmen der United States Navy aus den Jahren zwischen 1960 und 1966. Das Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names benannte ihn 1968 nach Fred A. Long Jr., Flugzeugmaschinist der Flugstaffel VX-6 der US Navy, der auf der Antarktisstation Little America V im Jahr 1957 überwinterte und in den Sommermonaten zu den Jahreswechseln 1960/61 und 1962/63 an anderen Orten in Antarktika tätig war. - Long Glacier (72°30′S 96°43′W / 72.500°S 96.717°W) is a glacier about 8 nautical miles (15 km; 9.2 mi) long in the southeastern part of Thurston Island, Antarctica. It flows south to the Abbot Ice Shelf, 14 nautical miles (26 km) west of Harrison Nunatak. The glacier was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960–66, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for , an aviation machinist of U.S. Navy Squadron VX-6, who wintered at Little America V in 1957 and was in Antarctica in the 1960–61 and 1962–63 seasons. Long Bluff is a conspicuous rock bluff on the west side of Long Glacier. It was named by US-ACAN after , Chief Pharmacist's Mate in the Eastern Group of U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47. Assigned to the January 11, 1947 search flight commanded by Lieutenant , Long was the first to sight the wreck of PBM Mariner seaplane George One on Noville Peninsula, leading to the rescue of its survivors.
