- Since its formation in 1969, the drama troupe Kotéba National du Mali has performed classic pieces of by Malian, African, and even European authors. In 1979 in search of a form of theatrical expression true to its traditional Bambaran heritage, the group took the form of the consisting of chants, dance, burlesque comedy and comic satires. The group's mission is to promote theatre in general and that of Mali in particular by giving value to traditional forms of popular national theater. Today, the Kotéba National is engaged in the adaptation of modern techniques and methods to preserve and reemphasize the dramatic expression of the Malian people. (en)
- Après avoir travaillé sur des pièces classiques d’auteurs dramatiques maliens, africains et étrangers dès sa création en 1969, le groupe dramatique Kotéba National du Mali s’est résolument engagé en 1979 dans la recherche d’une forme d’expression théâtrale traditionnelle en milieu bambara faite de chants, de danses, de comédies burlesques et de satires bouffonnes : le kotéba. La mission du groupe dramatique : la promotion du théâtre en général et malien en particulier par la revalorisation des formes traditionnelles du théâtre populaire national.
