- Kathleen Wendy Herald Peyton MBE (born 2 August 1929), who writes primarily as K. M. Peyton, is a British author of fiction for children and young adults. She has written more than fifty novels including the much loved "Flambards" series of stories about the Russell family which spanned the period before and after the First World War, for which she won both the 1969 Carnegie Medal from the Library Association and the 1970 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, judged by a panel of British children's writers. In 1979 the Flambards trilogy was adapted by Yorkshire Television as a 13-part TV series, Flambards, starring Christine McKenna as the heroine Christina Parsons. (en)

- K.M. Peyton är en gemensam pseudonym för brittiska författaren Kathleen Wendy Herald Peyton, född 2 augusti 1929 i Birmingham i England och hennes man Michael P. Peyton. K.M. Peyton är främst känd för sina ungdomsböcker, ofta om flickor och hästar, till exempel Flambardstrilogin. Hon började skriva när hon var nio men hennes första publicitet var när hon var 15 år under namnet Kathleen Herald, Sabren, Horse of the Sea. Hennes första böcker handlade om flickor som hade egen ponny. Hon var besatt av dem, fast hon inte någon egen häst. Vid sidan av författarskapet studerade hon konst, ett tag arbetade hon som bildlärare och hon har även illustrerat många av sina böcker själv. Många av sina tidigare böcker skrev Kathleen Peyton tillsammans med sin man, Michael Peyton, under det gemensamma namnet K.M Peyton. Kathleen Peyton fortsatte använda namnet även efter att hon slutat skriva med maken. Åren 1967–1969 utkom Peytons kanske mest kända böcker; serien om Flambards. År 1969 fick Peyton "The Carnegie Medal in Literature" (inrättad 1936) för boken Flickan från Flambards, en av böckerna i Flambards-serien. Åren 1967–1981 visades en TV-serie baserad på böckerna på engelsk TV. Peyton har idag skrivit över 50 böcker, varav cirka 20 har blivit översatta till svenska. Hon bor i Essex tillsammans med sin man. Paret har två döttrar tillsammans. (sv)
