Siegel)، (1940- 11 اذار 2004) كان أستاذا للغة الإنجليزية وانتاج الأفلام السينمائية في جامعة جورج تاون، وناقد سينمائي، وموسيقي، ومنتج أغاني، وشاعر غنائي. فاز بجائزة جرامي لأفضل ملاحظات البوم عام 1993 مع باك كلايتون وفيل تشاب، لملاحظاتهم على صندوق مجموعة بيلي هوليدي، عطلة بيلي الكاملة في فيرف (1945-1959). تلقى سيغل درجة البكالوريوس من جامعة كورنيل عام 1962، ودرجة الماجستير والدكتوراه في اللغة الإنجليزية من جامعة نورث وسترن. كتب سيغل لمجلة جاز تايمز، ومجلة واشنطونيان، وواشنطن نيتوركس، وصحيفة واشنطن سيتي، وواشنطن تربيون. وكان مؤلف دراسة عام 1973 للمنتج السينمائي ڤال ليوتون، فال ليوتون: حقيقة الإرهاب. عمل كمنتج لألبومات شيرلي هورن وباتي ويكس. عمل أستاذا في جامعة جورج تاون حتى عام 1998، واقام في ارلينغتون بولاية فيرجينيا. توفي عن عمر يناهز 63 عاما بسبب التهاب السحايا في العمود الفقري مخلفا وراءه والدية، شيرمان وميريام دانزينغر سيغل، وشقيقة جوديث سيغل بوم .وكان مثلي الجنس علنا. - Joel E. Siegel (1940 – 11 March 2004) was a professor of English and film studies at Georgetown University, a film and music critic, a music producer, and a lyricist. He won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Album Notes together with Buck Clayton and Phil Schaap for their work on the notes for the Billie Holiday box set, . Siegel received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1962 and his master's degree and doctorate in English from Northwestern University. Siegel wrote for JazzTimes, Washingtonian, Washington Newsworks, Washington City Paper, and . He was the author of a 1973 study of movie producer Val Lewton, . He acted as producer for albums of Shirley Horn and Patti Wicks. He taught at Georgetown University until 1998. He resided in Arlington, Virginia. He died at age 63 of spinal meningitis. He was survived by his parents, Sherman and Miriam Danzinger Siegel, and a sister, Judith Siegel-Baum. He was openly gay. (en)
