Irene Dingel (born April 26, 1956 in Werdohl, Germany) is a German historian and a Protestant theologian. Irene Dingel studied Protestant theology and Romance studies in Heidelberg and Paris. From 1981 until 1982 she was an "Élève à titre étranger" at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) de Fontenay-aux-Roses, and she also worked as an editor at the same time. On June 27, 2015 she was awarded the "Hermann-Sasse-Preis" of the Independent Evangelical-Lutheran Church.
