- Die International Plastic Modellers Society (IPMS) wurde 1963 in Großbritannien als Modellbau-Dachverband gegründet. Dazu entstanden weltweit nationale Verbände.Innerhalb jedes Verbandes gibt es spezielle Interessengruppen, zum Beispiel Flugzeuge oder Science-Fiction-Figuren. - The International Plastic Modellers' Society (often shortened to IPMS) is an international organisation of hobbyists interested in building plastic model kits. The Society is made up of national branches, and within these, local clubs who usually represent a town, city or locality. The first branch was established in the United Kingdom in 1963. Local clubs organise regular meetings, typically once a month for members to meet up, show off their latest models, discuss the hobby and work on ongoing projects. Many also organise their own annual shows and invite fellow clubs to display alongside traders, and together, these shows make up a busy calendar of events throughout each year. The UK has the most developed club network, with organisations covering virtually the whole country. Elsewhere, local clubs can often function as national branches simultaneously, such as IPMS Argentina who also represent the Mar del Plata region of the country. At a higher level, national branches will also organise their own shows. These are typically termed 'Nationals'. The largest of these is IPMS UK's Scale ModelWorld, held at Telford in November each year and features not just local British club displays, but also contributions from overseas branches and clubs, such is its scale. In addition to the branch and club structure, Special Interest Groups (SIG) exist which focus on a specific area or type of model building, for instance a particular aircraft such as the Tornado, a time period like the Cold War, a manufacturer such as Airfix or a genre like science fiction and fantasy. SIGs often transcend club and branch boundaries, being made up of modellers from around the world sharing a common interest. As a result, most SIGs do not meet up on a regular basis like clubs, but instead communicate more frequently online. (en)
- L'International Plastic Modellers' Society (communément abrégé IPMS) est une communauté internationale d'adeptes et de passionnés du modélisme fondée par Peter Elley en 1963 au Royaume-Uni. Elle est la première au monde, historiquement et en nombre de membres, de ce Fandom/Hobby. Le modélisme, parfois improprement appelé maquettisme, est un loisir technique qui consiste en la reproduction à échelle réduite d'un engin civil ou militaire (bateau, avion, véhicule, canon, etc.) existant ou dans le rendu de personnages historiques ou « fictionnels » (personnages de films ou de romans de Science-fiction ou de Fantasy, etc.) en figurines. Il se démarque du modélisme radio-commandé (naval, aérien, terrestre) et du modélisme ferroviaire qui constituent deux autres sphères séparées, même si les échanges avec ce dernier sont nombreux (modèles, truc et astuces de montage et de peinture, etc.). Il se distingue aussi du monde du jeu de rôle, du jeu d'histoire ou du wargame, plus axés sur l'aspect jeu de société, même s'il existe une fois encore des « ponts » du même ordre entre les deux domaines. Організація має у своїй структурі національні філії, які у своєму складі можуть мати локальні клуби, що представляють міста або локальні спільноти. Першу філію (IPMS UK [Архівовано 13 червня 2018 у Wayback Machine.]) було засновано у 1963 році у Сполученому Королівстві. Локальні організації/клуби, як правило, організують регулярні зустрічі (типово — один раз на місяць) заради спілкування членів, демонстрації членами організацій/клубів останніх моделей що були ними зібрані, для дискусій навколо спільного хобі, та заради роботи над спільними проектами. Багато з них організують свої власні щорічні виставки та запрошують до участі інші товариські клуби спільно з торговцями, утворюючи разом щільний та жвавий календар подій протягом усього року. Сполучене Королівство має найбільш розвинену мережу клубів з організацією, що віртуально охоплює всю країну. В інших країнах, місцеві клуби також можуть водночас виконувати роль національних філій, а також представляти окремий регіон.
