- Ilya Isidorovich Fondaminsky (Илья′ Исидо′рович Фондами′нский, February 17, 1880, Moscow, Russia — November 19, 1942, Auschwitz, Nazi-occupied Poland), was a Russian author (writing under the pseudonym Bunakov) and political activist, in 1910s one of the leaders of the Esers party, in 1917 a senior member of the Alexander Kerensky's Provisional government. In 1918 Fondaminsky took part in the Iași Conference. In France where he was living since immigration in 1919, Fondaminsky veered off from the left and became an influential newspaper editor (Sovremennye Zapisky, among others), author of philosophical essays and in the later years — much admired philanthropist, supporting Christian magazines and charity funds. Facing the Nazi occupation, Fondaminsky refused to leave Paris, saying he was willing to accept his destiny whatever it may be. Arrested in July 1941 as a Jew and sent to the concentration camp, he adopted Christianity and was received into the Russian Orthodox Church not long before being sent to Auschwitz. Ilya Fondaminsky died there on November 19, 1942. In 2003, he was officially pronounced a Russian Orthodox saintly martyr by the Patriarch of Constantinople. (en)
- Ilyá Isidórovich Fondaminski (Илья Исидорович Фондаминский, n. 17 de febrero de 1880 en Moscú - f. el 19 de noviembre de 1942 en Auschwitz) fue un autor ruso judío (que escribía bajo el seudónimo Bunakov) y activista político, quien en la década de 1910 fue uno de los líderes del Partido Social-Revolucionario, y en 1917 se convirtió en miembro del gobierno provisional de Aleksandr Kérenski. En 1918 participó en la Conferencia de Iași. En Francia, donde vivía desde que había inmigrado en 1919, se convirtió en un influyente editor de periódicos (Sovreménnye Zapiski, entre otros), autor de ensayos filosóficos y, posteriormente, filántropo, dando apoyo a fondos de caridad y revistas cristianas. Enfrentando a la ocupación nazi, rechazó dejar París, diciendo estar dispuesto a aceptar su destino cualquiera fuera éste. Arrestado en julio de 1941 y enviado al campo de concentración, adoptó el cristianismo no mucho tiempo antes de ser enviado a Auschwitz. Murió allí el 19 de noviembre de 1942. En 2003 fue nombrado santo mártir de la Iglesia ortodoxa de Constantinopla por el Patriarca de Constantinopla. (es)
