- Die I-Formation ist eine Formation der Offense im American Football, bei der der Quarterback, und zwei Runningbacks (Halfback und Fullback) in einer Reihe hinter dem Center stehen. Betrachtet man die I-Formation von der gegnerischen Endzone aus, sehen diese drei Spieler zusammen wie ein "I" aus, was den Namen dieser Formation geprägt hat. Die I-Formation ist eine der gebräuchlichsten Football-Formationen. La formación I lleva su nombre debido al alineamiento vertical (visto de esa forma desde la zona de anotación opositora, el cual es hecho por el quarterback, el fullback y el running back, el cual contrasta particularmente con el alineamiento de los mismos jugadores en la formación T. La formación comienza con los 5 linieros ofensivos usuales (2 tackles ofensivos, 2 guardias y un centro), el mariscal de campo detrás del centro, y los dos backs alineados uno detrás del otro, detrás del mariscal.
