- In music, homorhythm (also homometer) is a texture having a "similarity of rhythm in all parts" or "very similar rhythm" as would be used in simple hymn or chorale settings. Homorhythm is a condition of homophony. All voices sing the same rhythm. This texture results in a homophonic texture, which is a blocked chordal texture. Homorhythmic texture delivers lyrics with clarity and emphasis. Texture in which parts have different rhythms is heterorythmic or heterometric. The term is used for compositions in which all the voice-parts move simultaneously in the same rhythm, forming a succession of chords. It may also be called chordal style, familiar style, note-against-note style, isometric, and homophonic. Isometric may used to refer to music in which each vocal part has the same number of syllables, with isorythmic being used to refer to music in which each voice has the same rhythm. (en)
- L'homorythmie est la forme la plus élémentaire du contrepoint : dans un passage polyphonique, toutes les voix vocales, instrumentales ou mixtes s'y déroulent simultanément avec les mêmes valeurs rythmiques, les mélodies se développant par mouvements parallèles ou par contours mélodiques différents. Le chant est ainsi harmonisé en accord, note contre note (ou "point contre point", définition d'origine du mot « contrepoint »). Le terme est parfois employé pour une même mélodie jouée ou chantée à l'unisson, sur une ou plusieurs octaves (voir plutôt monodie). À ne pas confondre avec l'ostinato où un même rythme revient cycliquement, elle est à l'opposé du fugato ou de la fugue où les voix sont en entrées successives et le plus souvent polyrythmiques. Dans un canon homorythmique, chaque phrase musicale possède exactement le même rythme. L'homorythmie peut être utilisée sur toute une œuvre ou un de ses mouvements comme dans l'organum médiéval, mais aussi dans une chanson (comme les vaudevilles du XIVe siècle), un madrigal, un choral (particulièrement les chorals protestants), un motet, un hymne. Ce système d'écriture se retrouve également sur une partie plus ou moins longue (parfois très courte) d'une œuvre mettant ainsi par effet de contraste un accent particulier sur un motif ou sur les mots d'un texte. - Omoritmia è un termine della teoria musicale che denota, in un brano polifonico, il fatto che tutte le voci procedono simultaneamente con gli stessi valori ritmici, pur con melodie diverse. Si tratta della forma più elementare di contrappunto (l'espressione punctum contra punctum denotava nel Medioevo proprio la composizione omoritmica): la si ritrova in alcuni degli esempi più antichi di polifonia (organum, conductus), e nei secoli successivi è la tecnica prevalente nelle composizioni polifoniche di carattere popolaresco (villanelle) o destinate a cantanti non professionisti (come le laude e le armonizzazioni dei corali luterani o calvinisti). Tuttavia, anche composizioni con una struttura contrappuntistica più complessa (come mottetti, chansons o madrigali) possono presentare sezioni omoritmiche, volte a creare un effetto di contrasto e mettere in particolare evidenza le parole del testo. Termin ten stosowany jest czasami wymiennie z homofonią lub fakturą nota contra notam, ponieważ pozornie wynik może być ten sam.
