- Das Holstein-Stadion ist ein Fußballstadion in der schleswig-holsteinischen Landeshauptstadt Kiel und Heimspielstätte des Fußballvereins Holstein Kiel. Das städtische Stadion befindet sich im Norden der Großstadt im Stadtteil Wik, etwa fünf Kilometer nördlich der Innenstadt. Die 1911 eröffnete und mehrfach um- und ausgebaute Spielstätte bietet heute Platz für 15.034 Zuschauer. Sie ist somit eine der traditionsreichsten und ältesten Spielstätten im deutschen Fußball. Die Spielstätte gehört zu den zwanzig ältesten in ganz Deutschland und ist zugleich die älteste in Schleswig-Holstein. Zu dem Stadiongelände gehören neben einem Gastronomiebetrieb auch eine Turnhalle und ein Trainingsplatz hinter der Nord-Tribüne, der nach dem ehemaligen Präsidenten von Holstein Kiel (1921–1930 und 1948–1949) als Ernst-Föge-Platz benannt ist. Bundesliga. 2005, the DFB ruled that the old stadium did not meet the body's minimal stadium requirements, claiming the stadium was no longer fit for football and was in desperate need of a substantial makeover. Failure to make the required upgrades would rule the club ineligible to play in the 2. Bundesliga or potentially result in the DFB revoking Holstein Kiel's license entirely. 2006 the city government and team officials subsequently developed a plan to provide 1.6 million Euros towards the renovation of the stadium. - Het Holstein-Stadion is een stadion in de Duitse stad Kiel. De voetbalafdeling van sportclub Holstein Kiel (in het seizoen 2009/2010 spelend in de 3. Liga) en de American footballclub spelen in het stadion hun thuiswedstrijden. Het stadion biedt plaats aan 11.386 personen. Het Holstein-Stadion werd geopend in 1911. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog raakte het stadion zwaar beschadigd, maar in 1950 was het weer in het geheel opgebouwd, inclusief hoofdtribune. In 2005 bestond de mogelijkheid dat Holstein Kiel naar de 2. Bundesliga zou promoveren, maar het stadion voldeed niet aan de eisen die daarvoor gesteld werden. Om de eventuele promotie niet in gevaar te brengen, werd in 2006 besloten het stadion ingrijpend te verbouwen, waarbij twee nieuwe overdekte tribunes werden gebouwd. Uiteindelijk ging de promotie niet door maar de verbouwing van het stadion wel. (nl)
