- Hohenschwangau ist ein Gemeindeteil der Gemeinde Schwangau im Landkreis Ostallgäu (Schwaben, Bayern). Das Dorf liegt rund 800 m ü. NHN hoch zwischen den Schlössern Neuschwanstein und Hohenschwangau und wird jährlich von rund zwei Millionen Menschen besucht, die von hier aus die Königsschlösser besichtigen. Parkplätze, Gastronomie, Pensionen, Hotelbetriebe und Souvenirgeschäfte prägen dementsprechend das Ortsbild. Hohenschwangau wird im Süden vom Alpsee begrenzt. Am Ufer des Alpsees wurde im Jahr 2011 das Museum der bayerischen Könige eröffnet. Am nördlichen Ortsrand befindet sich ein staatliches Internat: Das staatliche Gymnasium mit Schülerheim Hohenschwangau. An der Gemeindeverbindungsstraße Richtung Schwangau liegt das Anwesen Schloss Bullachberg. (de)
