- Hive is a bug-themed tabletop abstract strategy game, designed by John Yianni and published in 2001 by Gen42 Games. The object of Hive is to capture the opponent's queen bee by allowing it to become completely surrounded by other pieces (belonging to either player), while avoiding the capture of one's own queen. Hive shares elements of both tile-based games and board games. It differs from other tile-based games in that the tiles, once placed, can then be moved to other positions according to various rules, much like chess pieces. (en)

Nel gioco due agguerriti gruppi di insetti combattono spostandosi e sciamando gli uni contro gli altri nel tentativo di contendersi il predominio dell'alveare imprigionando l'ape regina avversaria: le formiche agilmente si spostano per tutto lo schieramento, le cavallette saltano da una parte all'altra, i ragni strisciano ai bordi mentre i pesanti scarabei scavalcano tutti gli altri. Il gioco consiste di 22 pedine esagonali, 11 bianche e altrettante nere, ognuna di esse raffiguranti un insetto che può muoversi lungo l'alveare a seconda delle proprie peculiarità di movimento. Esistono attualmente 3 espansioni che portano a 14 il numero di pedine di ogni fazione per un totale di 28. (it)

В отличие от других игр, в которых игроки выкладывают фишки, в «Улье» выложенные фишки можно перемещать после размещения — как шахматные фигуры. Поэтому игровой процесс напоминает другие абстрактные стратегические настольные игры. - Hive ("bikupa") är ett strategispel med fullständig information för 2 spelare med tema kring insekter. Spelet är konstruerat av och publicerades 2001 av . Spelarnas mål är att helt omringa motståndarens bidrottning samtidigt som man ska undvika att ens egen drottning blir omringad. I spelet ska man både placera ut sina brickor och sedan även förflytta dem enligt olika regler, likt brädspelet schack. Spelet skiljer sig dock från en klassisk definition av brädspel eftersom det inte finns ett spelbräde utan brickorna placeras ut på ett plant underlag. Man behöver inte placera ut alla sina brickor och en bricka i spel kan aldrig bli utslagen eller lämna spelet på annat sätt. (sv)
