- HMS Ocean ist ein in der Royal Navy gebräuchlicher Traditionsname, den bislang sechs Schiffe trugen. Er geht zurück auf ein 1759 erbeutetes französisches Schiff namens Océan. Die Briten studierten deren Konstruktionsmerkmale, der Zustand des erbeuteten Schiffes ließ keine weitere Verwendung zu.
* Die erste der Royal Navy war ein 90-Kanonen-Linienschiff der Sandwich-Klasse, das 1761 vom Stapel lief und 1793 gestrichen wurde.
* Die zweite war ein 98-Kanonen-Linienschiff, das 1795 vom Stapel lief, in den Napoleonischen Kriegen eingesetzt wurde und später zu einem 110-Kanonen-Linienschiff 1. Klasse umgebaut wurde. 1841 wurde es Hafenschiff in Sheerness und erst 1875 abgebrochen.
* Die dritte , als hölzernes Schraubenschiff in Auftrag gegeben, lief 1863 als Panzerfregatte der vom Stapel. Sie diente als Flaggschiff auf der China Station der Royal Navy und wurde nach einer aktiven Dienstzeit von sechs Jahren 1872 außer Dienst gestellt und bis zum Abbruch 1882 nicht wieder eingesetzt.
* Die vierte HMS Ocean (1898), ein 1898 von Stapel gelaufenes Linienschiff der Canopus-Klasse, das 1915 nach Minentreffer in den Dardanellen sank.
* Die fünfte HMS Ocean (R68) war ein 1945 fertiggestellter Flugzeugträger der Colossus-Klasse, auf dem 1945 erstmals ein Düsenflugzeug landete und startete, der 1956 in der Suezkrise als Hubschrauberträger eingesetzt wurde und 1962 abgebrochen wurde.
* Die sechste HMS Ocean (L12) ist ein Landungsschiff zur amphibischen Kriegsführung das als Hubschrauber- und Flugzeugträger genutzt wird und 1995 vom Stapel lief. (de)

The British studied the French technology of this ship and admired it, but the ship had to be in bad shape before it would be replaced by a new-build.

* HMS Ocean (1805), was a 98-gun ship of the line launched in 1805, active in the Napoleonic Wars, and later upgraded to a 110-gun first-rate.
* HMS Ocean (1863) was originally ordered to be built as a Bulwark-class wooden screw line-of battle ship intended to carry 91 guns. However, the order was changed and she was eventually launched in 1863 as a Prince Consort-class ironclad of 24 guns. In the late 1860s she served as flagship to the Commander-in-Chief, China and after an active life of only six years, was paid off in 1872.
* HMS Ocean (1898) was a Canopus-class pre-dreadnought battleship launched in 1898 and sunk by a mine in 1915.
* HMS Ocean (R68) was an Colossus-class aircraft carrier completed in 1945, served in the Korean War as an aircraft carrier, and the Suez Crisis as a helicopter platform and was scrapped in 1962.
* HMS Ocean (L12) was a Landing Platform, Helicopter (LPH) launched in 1995 and decommissioned in March 2018, after which she was transferred to the Brazilian Navy as Atlântico. (en)
