- Gustav Schoeman Preller (4 October 1875 in Klein Schoemansdal, Klipdrift, Pretoria – 7 October 1943 in Pelindaba) was a journalist, historian, writer and literary critic. He fought for the recognition of Afrikaans. Preller helped the Afrikaner to awake tothe importance of the history of South Africa. He made great contributions to the writing of South African history, through his research and the literature. He also contributed greatly to making South Africans aware of the legacy of the Voortrekkers and also played anearly part in planning the Voortrekker Monument. (en)

Był działaczem na rzecz równouprawnienia języka afrikaans, jednym z czołowych aktywistów Afrykanerskiego Towarzystwa Językowego (ATG). W założonym przez siebie piśmie De Vaderland postulował rozdzielenie mówionego i pisanego języka Afrykanerów. Twierdził również, że właśnie język mówiony powinien stać się podstawowym narzędziem komunikacji społeczności afrykanerskiej (po uprzednim ustandaryzowaniu). Podkreślał również rolę własnego języka w podtrzymywaniu narodowej tożsamości (między innymi na łamach innego swojego pisma, De Volkstem). Poprzez publikacje w afrikaans w znacznym stopniu przyczynił się do spopularyzowania dziedzictwa Voortrekkerów i Wielkiego Treku pośród Afrykanerów; był również jednym z pomysłodawców budowy Voortrekker Monument w Pretorii.
