- Die Graecostasis war der Versammlungsort der griechischen Gesandten auf dem Forum Romanum. Sie befand sich gegenüber der Curia Hostilia nahe bei der Rostra und war vermutlich etwas erhöht (vgl. Varro 1. 1. 5, 155 und Plinius der Ältere, Naturalis historia 33, 19). Zur Lagebestimmung kann Plinius' Aussage (Naturalis historia 7, 212) dienen, dass die Mittagsstunde eingetreten war, wenn die Sonne von der Curia aus gesehen zwischen Graecostasis und Rostra stand. Ob es sich bei der Graecostasis nur um eine Art Plattform oder ein wirkliches Bauwerk handelte, ist nicht ganz klar. Im Zuge der Umgestaltung des Comitiums und der Verlegung der Rostra unter Gaius Iulius Caesar und Augustus wurde die Graecostasis aufgelöst. (de)
- The Graecostasis was a platform in the Comitium near the Roman Forum, located to the west of the Rostra. The name refers to the Greek ambassadors for whom the platform was originally built after the Roman Republic conquered Greece. Placed at the southwest end of the Comitium, the platform was the designated spot for all representatives of foreign nations and dignitaries from the Republic and Empire's domain. Visiting outsiders were not permitted within the Senate House or Curia and instead may have stood on this platform while waiting to meet with senators or to hear orations from the Rostra to its east side. Although one scholar has disputed this interpretation and argues that it may have served as a viewing platform for entertainment. (en)
