- Godtfred Holmvang (Stabekk, 7 d'octubre de 1917 - Vancouver, 19 de febrer de 2006) fou un atleta noruec, especialista en el decatló, que va competir durant la dècada de 1940. El 1948 va prendre part en els Jocs Olímpics d'Estiu de Londres, on fou desè en la prova del del programa d'atletisme. En el seu palmarès destaca una medalla d'or en la prova del decatló al Campionat d'Europa d'atletisme de 1946. Guanyà el campionat nacional de decatló de 1939, 1946 i 1948; i el de 110 metres tanques de 1946. Va millorar el rècord nacional de decatló en dues ocasions. La seva carrera esportiva es ve veure interrompuda per la Segona Guerra Mundial i el 1943 fou fet presoner de guerra. També practicava l'esquí i el 1946 va ser recompensat amb l'Egebergs Ærespris. Un cop retirat de l'esport es va graduar en dret a Oslo i va estudiar a Londres i Harvard. Va treballar a l'ONU en temes de dret marítim internacional i acabà vivint al Canadà, on va treballar com a assessor legal en matèries de la indústria marítima. (ca)

- Godtfred Holmvang (* 7. Oktober 1917 in Stabekk; † 19. Februar 2006 in Vancouver) war ein norwegischer Leichtathlet, der für den IL Tyrving startete. Die ersten Europameisterschaften nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg fand vom 22. bis zum 25. August 1946 in Oslo statt. Es dominierte Schweden, das vom Krieg verschont geblieben waren. Aber auch die anderen skandinavischen Länder gewannen je mindestens einen Titel. Den einzigen Titel für die Gastgeber aus Norwegen gewann Godtfred Holmvang in der Königsdisziplin, dem Zehnkampf. Mit 6987 Punkten (6760 Punkte nach heutiger Wertung) gewann er vor Sergei Kusnezow aus der Sowjetunion mit 6930 Punkten, dem Schweden Göran Waxberg mit 6661 Punkten und dem Schweizer Armin Scheurer mit 6655 Punkten. Daraufhin wurde er mit der Morgenbladet-Goldmedaille geehrt. Bei den Olympischen Spielen 1948 in London belegte Holmvang mit 6663 Punkten (6324 nach heutiger Wertung) den zehnten Platz. Holmvang war norwegischer Meister im Zehnkampf 1939, 1946 und 1948. 1946 gewann er auch den Titel im 110-Meter-Hürdenlauf. 1946 wurde Holmvang mit dem Egebergs Ærespris ausgezeichnet. 1968 wanderte Holmvang nach Kanada aus und ließ sich in Vancouver nieder. He won the 1946 European Championships and finished tenth at the 1948 Summer Olympics. He became Norwegian decathlon champion in 1939, 1946 and 1948. In addition he won the Norwegian championships in 110 metres hurdles in 1946. He came 4th in the alpine combination in the Norwegian Skiing Championships 1947. His career was interrupted by World War II in Norway 1940-1945. Holmvang was born 7 October 1917 in Bærum, Norway, and was known as "Gotti". He was involved in many sports including skiing, orienteering, track, tennis, bandy and handball. Holmvang helped establish orienteering at Notodden. He attended Law School in Oslo 1939 and was a Prisoner of War 1943. He was awarded Egebergs Ærespris 1946. Holmvang was married to Anne Margrethe Lovaas. He proceeded to further education at London School of Economics and attained his Master of Law at Harvard. He worked for the United Nations in New York to develop international maritime law. Holmvang emigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in 1968 and worked as a legal advisor to the shipping industry until retirement. He had two children, Godtfred Jr and Annette Margrethe. Holmvang died 19 February 2006 in Vancouver. (en)

Dwukrotnie poprawiał rekord Norwegii w dziesięcioboju, był też mistrzem kraju w tej konkurencji (w 1939, 1946 oraz 1948) oraz w biegu na 110 m przez płotki (w 1946). Uprawiał także narciarstwo. W 1946 otrzymał nagrodę Egebergs Ærespris. Po zakończeniu kariery ukończył studia prawnicze w Oslo, kształcił się w Londynie oraz na Harvardzie. Pracował w ONZ, gdzie zajmował się międzynarodowym prawem morskim. Później zamieszkał w Kanadzie gdzie pracował jako doradca prawny w sprawach przemysłu morskiego.
