- Godegisil o Godegisel fou un rei dels burgundis, quart i més petit fill de Gondioc. El seu pare el va designar hereu el 463. Llavors el poder efectiu va quedar fins a la mort en mans de l'oncle Khilperic I de Burgúndia i no és clar si els nebots ja tenien el títol reial o només eren hereus a l'espera de la mort de l'oncle. Khilperic I governà inicialment amb un germà, Gondió, però des de 473 va quedar sol. Els quatre nebots van començar a preparar la successió i Gundemar I i Khilperic II es van aliar contra Gundebald. Godegisil va restar neutral. Gundebald va sortir triomfant del conflicte i el 476 va ocupar la capital del regne, Viena del Delfinat. Mort Khilperic I (eliminat el 476 o desaparegut de mort natural abans del 480) Godesigil va poder assolir el tron conjuntament amb Gundebald. - Der Unterkönig Godegisel von Genf (* 443; † 501) war ein Sohn König Gundiochs. Godegisel war der Erzieher und Onkel von Chrodechild, der Frau Chlodwigs I., und seit 463 Unterkönig in Burgund. Er versuchte durch ein Abkommen mit Chlodwig, Herrscher über ganz Burgund zu werden und seinen Bruder Gundobad zu beseitigen. Gundobad hatte zuvor, nach der Ermordung des 3. Bruders Chilperich II., das übrige Burgund an sich gerissen. Chlodwig ging unter Zusage von jährlichen Tributen und Gebietsabtretungen auf diesen Handel ein und im Jahre 500 besiegten sie Gundobad in Dijon. Gundobad konnte jedoch nach Avignon fliehen und 501 die Gebiete vermutlich mit westgotischer Hilfe zurückerobern. Ο Κλόβις Α΄ ακολούθησε τον Γκουντομπάντ στην Αβινιόν και ξεκίνησε να τον πολιορκεί, τον ανάγκασε τελικά να κλείσει ειρήνη και να του δώσει όρκο υποτέλειας. - Godegisel (? - 501) was a Burgundian sub-king and son of the Burgundian king Gondioc. Godegisel was the educator and uncle of Clotilde, wife of the Frankish king Clovis I. Since 463 he was a sub-king of the Burgundians. With the help of Clovis, Godegisel attempted to become the king of all the kingdom of the Burgundians by eliminating his brother Gundobad. Gundobad had previously seized the rest of the kingdom after the assassination of their brother Chilperic II. With the promise of annual tribute and territorial cessions, Clovis agreed to aid Godegisel, and in 500 (or 501) Clovis entered the Burgundian territory, compelling Gundobad to march against the invaders and request his brother's aid. When the armies arrived outside of Dijon, Gundobad found himself fighting both the Franks and his brother. Defeated, Gundobad fled to Avignon, while Godigisel retired to Vienne. Clovis followed Gundobad to Avignon and began besieging it, only to abandon the operation and make peace with Gundobad. In 501 he was able to recover his territory with Visigothic aid. Gundobad murdered Godegisel in Vienne, and replaced him with his son Sigismund. He was married to Teudelinda. (en)
