- Giuseppina Catanea (18 February 1894 - 14 March 1948) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed member of the Discalced Carmelites and who later assumed the religious name of "Maria Giuseppina of Jesus Crucified". She was born to noble parents from the Marquises Grimaldi and was known for her careful attention to the plight of the poor during her childhood. This intensified after she became a professed Carmelite in 1932 and held positions of leadership despite her failing health that led to her death. Her beatification received the approval of Pope Benedict XVI and her beatification was celebrated on 1 June 2008. However it was Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe who presided over the celebration on the behalf of the pope. (en)
- Marie-Joséphine de Jésus crucifié (°1894 - †1948), née Giuseppina Catanea, est une religieuse carmélite italienne. De santé fragile, dès sa jeunesse, elle cumule les affections (angine de poitrine, tuberculose...) qui la laissent presque paralysée. À 24 ans, elle s'installe quelques jours dans le Carmel de Naples le temps d'une neuvaine, et finalement ne quittera plus ce couvent. Guérie miraculeusement en 1922, elle voit arriver de nombreux pèlerins et visiteurs qui viennent la solliciter pour des conseils et des prières ou une intercession : elle est déjà considérée comme étant une sainte par plusieurs personnes. À partir de 1943, elle cumule les maladies, se retrouve paralysée et perd la vue progressivement. En 1945, elle est élue prieure de son couvent malgré ses infirmités. Décédée le 14 mars 1948, son procès en béatification s'ouvre avant la fin de l'année 1948. Elle est béatifiée à Naples le 1er juin 2008. (fr)
