- Mola alexandrini és una espècie de peix de la família dels mòlids i de l'ordre dels tetraodontiformes. És un peix marí i de clima temperat. Es troba a Austràlia, Nova Zelanda, Xile i Sud-àfrica. Els mascles poden assolir 300 cm de longitud total. És inofensiu per als humans. (ca)
- Mola alexandrini (Syn.: Mola ramsayi, engl. Bumphead sunfish) ist eine seltene und wenig bekannte Art der Mondfische (Molidae). Das Verbreitungsgebiet der Art ist nur ungenau bekannt. Fänge liegen aus dem Mittelmeer, von der Küste Japans, aus dem südwestlichen Pazifik bei Australien und Neuseeland, aus dem östlichen Pazifik, dem nördlichen Indischen Ozean und aus dem östlichen Atlantik vor, möglicherweise kommt die Art aber in tropischen und gemäßigten Meeren auf der gesamten Erde vor. Sie scheint etwas wärmebedürftiger zu sein als Mola mola. (de)
- The giant sunfish or bumphead sunfish (Mola alexandrini), also known as the Ramsay's sunfish, southern sunfish, southern ocean sunfish, short sunfish or bump-head sunfish in many parts of the world, is a fish belonging to the family Molidae. It is closely related to its congener, the more widely known Mola mola, and is found in the Southern Hemisphere. With a specimen found dead near Azores in 2021 weighing in at 2744 kg (6049 lb) it clearly is the largest extant bony fish species in terms of maximum recorded mass. It can be found basking on its side occasionally near the surface, which is thought to be used to re-heat themselves after diving in cold water for prey, recharge their oxygen stores, and attract gulls to free them of parasites.
