- The Frontier Corps (Urdu: سرحد واہنی, reporting name: FC), is a paramilitary force of Pakistan in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to maintain law and order while overseeing the control of the country's borders with Afghanistan and Iran. The Frontier Corps is an umbrella term for two separate organizations: FC KP stationed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province and now including the Federally Administered Tribal Areas), and FC Balochistan stationed in Balochistan province. Each subdivision is headed by a seconded inspector general, who is a Pakistan Army officer of at least major-general rank, although the force itself is under the jurisdiction of the Interior Ministry. With a total manpower of approximately 100,000, the task of the Frontier Corps is to help local law enforcement, and to carry out border patrol, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and anti-smuggling operations. Some of the FC's constituent units such as the Chitral Scouts, the Khyber Rifles, Swat Levies, the Kurram Militia, the Tochi Scouts, the South Waziristan Scouts, and the Zhob Militia have regimental histories dating back to British colonial times. Constituant une force de 80 000 soldats, ils sont implantés dans les provinces du Baloutchistan et de Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ainsi que dans les régions tribales. Faisant face à l'Iran et surtout à l'Afghanistan, le long d'une frontière s'étendant sur plus de 3 000 kilomètres, ils sont donc situés dans une zone sensible et jouent donc un rôle majeur dans la sécurité du pays. Créée en 1907 à l'époque de la domination britannique, la force paramilitaire agrège des milices et diverses organisations locales et tribales et a été un « outil » efficace des autorités britanniques puis pakistanaises pour assurer le contrôle de la frontière face aux menaces extérieures, mais aussi pour appuyer des opérations extérieures de l'autre côté de la frontière.
