- Francisco de Paula Brochado da Rocha ([fɾɐ̃ˈsisku di ˈpawlɐ bɾoˈʃadu dɐ ˈʁɔʃɐ]; 8 August 1910 – 26 September 1962) was a Brazilian counsel, professor and politician. He was the son of the former mayor Porto Alegre, Otavio Rocha and Rocha Inácia, brother Antonio da Rocha and José Diogo da Rocha. While still a student, participated in the Revolution of 1930, when he was wounded during the assault on the headquarters of the Third Army, Rua da Praia, in Porto Alegre, on October 3. Due to injury, he lost a leg and started using a mechanical prosthesis. In 1932, he graduated from the Law School of Porto Alegre, which now belongs to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, where he was later Professor of Constitutional Law. It was the city attorney of Porto Alegre, state deputy elected by the PSD for the 38th Legislature of the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Sul, from 1947 to 1951. He was proprietor of the state departments of Education and Culture, and the Interior and Justice, during the government Brizola in Rio Grande do Sul participated actively in the in 1961, making the connection between the government and Brizola nationalist sectors of the Third Army that would support the movement that secured the possession of João Goulart, after the resignation of Jânio Quadros. At the , was a consultant of the Republic, a member of the Federal Council of Education, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Council of Ministers (July 12, 1962 to September 18, 1962) during the brief parliamentary regime that followed the inauguration of João Goulart. As chairman, he worked for short parliamentary experience now seen as virtually doomed. He died eight days after leaving office. (en)
- Francisco de Paula Brochado da Rocha (Porto Alegre, 8 de agosto de 1910 — Ibid., 26 de setembro de 1962) foi um advogado, professor universitário e político brasileiro. Foi também professor no ensino médio. Filho do ex-prefeito portoalegrense Otávio Rocha e Inácia Brochado da Rocha e irmão de Antônio Brochado da Rocha e José Diogo Brochado da Rocha. Ainda estudante, participou da Revolução de 1930, quando foi ferido durante o assalto ao quartel-general da 3ª Região Militar, na rua da Praia, em Porto Alegre, em 3 de outubro. Em decorrência do ferimento, perdeu um pé e passou a usar uma prótese mecânica. Em 1932 diplomou-se pela Faculdade de Direito de Porto Alegre, hoje pertencente à Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, onde mais tarde seria professor catedrático de Direito Constitucional. Foi procurador da prefeitura de Porto Alegre, eleito deputado estadual pelo PSD para a 37ª Legislatura da Assembleia Legislativa do Rio Grande do Sul, de 1947 a 1951. Foi titular das secretarias estaduais de Educação e Cultura, e do Interior e Justiça, durante o governo Leonel Brizola no Rio Grande do Sul. Participou ativamente da Campanha da Legalidade em 1961, fazendo a ligação entre o governo Brizola e setores nacionalistas do III Exército, que viria a apoiar o movimento que garantiu a posse de João Goulart, após a renúncia de Jânio Quadros. No âmbito federal, foi consultor da República, membro do Conselho Federal de Ensino, ministro da Fazenda e presidente do Conselho de Ministros (12 de julho de 1962 a 18 de setembro de 1962) durante o breve regime parlamentar que se seguiu à posse de Jango. Como presidente do Conselho, trabalhou para abreviar a experiência parlamentarista já vista como praticamente condenada. Morreu oito dias depois de deixar o poder. (pt)
