- A fish doorbell (Dutch: visdeurbel) is a system that allows fish to pass through a closed sluice gate through crowdsourced input when fish are present. The Utrecht Visdeurbel uses a livestreamed underwater camera that allows users to press a doorbell button to notify the lock operator that there are fish swimming in the gracht, and that the lock should be opened. It is designed to aid in seasonal fish migration, as an alternative to a physical fish ladder. (en)
- De visdeurbel is een speciale vistrap bij de Utrechtse Weerdsluis. Hij is gebouwd in 2021 op initiatief van de ecoloog Mark van Heukelum. In de schutkolk van de sluis is onder water een webcam bevestigd. Via een livestream is voor belangstellenden te zien of er vissen wachten om naar binnen te gaan; kijkers kunnen via een meldknop op de bijbehorende website de sluiswachter vragen om de sluis te openen. De "visdeurbel" was in werking tijdens de maanden april en mei 2021, toen de vis op weg was naar het water waar ze wil paaien. In die twee maanden werd de site door twee miljoen mensen bekeken en werd de "bel" zo'n 100.000 keer ingedrukt. In het voorjaar van 2022 werd het voortgezet. (nl)
