- Fernand Charron (30. května 1886 – 13. srpna 1928) byl francouzský automobilový závodník. Byl jedním z prvních známých závodníků. Svou kariéru začal jako úspěšný cyklista – tovární jezdec výrobce kol Albert-Clément. V letech 1897 až 1903 se účastnil 18 automobilových závodů z nichž ve 4 zvítězil (Marseille-Nice a Paříž-Amsterdam-Paříž v roce 1898, Paříž-Bordeaux 1899 a Pohár Gordona Bennetta 1900). Většinou jezdil s vozy . Známou se stala jeho nehoda z Bennettova poháru, kdy jeho vůz porazil bernardýna, který zůstal zaklíněn mezi pravé kolo a zavěšení a došlo i k poškození řízení. Charron přesto závod vyhrál, o osudu bernardýna není nic známo. Se závoděním přestal po neúspěšné sezoně 1903. V roce 1901 založil s týmovými kolegy Léonce Girardotem a firmu , jejich nový vůz se však neosvědčil. V roce 1906 odešel z firmy Girardot. Společnost Automobiles Charron byla prodána britským investorům a změnila se na Charron Limited. Charron zůstal až do roku 1912 a poté odešel k firmě Alda, malému výrobci sportovních vozů, která patřila jeho tchánovi. (cs)

- Fernand Charron (30 May 1866, in Angers – 13 August 1928, in Maisons-Laffitte) was a French pioneer of motor racing and automobile manufacturing. He started his sporting career as a successful cyclist. In 1891 he won the French National Stayers Championships riding a bicycle around a track following a tandem. Between 1897 and 1903 he took part in 18 car races, 4 of which he won: and Paris–Amsterdam–Paris in 1898, Paris–Bordeaux in 1899, and the inaugural Gordon Bennett Cup (Paris–Lyon) in 1900. He drove mainly Panhard & Levassor cars. On one occasion, he crashed into a St Bernard dog which became wedged between the right wheel and the suspension and jammed the steering, though he still won the race. He retired after an unsuccessful season in 1903 and worked as manager of Adolphe Clément's factory complex at Levallois-Perret. In 1901, Charron was one of the three founders of an automobile manufacturer, Charron, Girardot et Voigt (CGV). Following resignations, the company was reformed in 1906 at Puteaux as Charron Ltd., the English "Ltd" suffix reflecting a large amount of investment capital that came from England. Shortly before the outbreak of the First World War, Charron was trying to sell his auto business, but he nevertheless was also using it at this time to build cars for the Alda company. The arrival of peace in 1918 found Charron still owner of the business. At the Paris Motor Show in October 1919, it offered two models, the small 6HP "Type TC" (derived from the "Charronette" of 1914) and the 15HP "Type PGM". Charron married in 1907, and later divorced, Jeanne Clément, the second daughter of cycle and motor manufacturer Adolphe Clément. (en)

Il est le gendre d'Adolphe Clément-Bayard. Il se dépeint lui-même ainsi dans La Vie au Grand Air: « 57 kilos 500 à 20 ans, et 58 kilos à 54 ans. 13 victoires en course à pied, 506 à bicyclette, bicycle et tricycle, dont 3 championnats de France sur piste, vitesse et fond, 4 grandes épreuves d'automobile, 193 courses de chevaux comme propriétaire, 265 courses de chevaux comme entraîneur, 76 courses de chevaux comme gentleman, dont un tiers contre les jockeys. Soit 1057 victoires sportives. » En outre, « il chante fort bien, aime beaucoup le billard, ne fume jamais, et sait se montrer galant homme ». (fr)
