- Felicitas Becker (* 1971) ist eine belgische Historikerin, Afrikanistin und Journalistin. Sie ist Professorin für afrikanische Geschichte an der Universität Gent, nachdem sie zuvor an der SOAS University London, der Simon Fraser University in Vancouver und der Universität Cambridge unterrichtet hatte. Ihre in Cambridge aufgelegte Habilitationsschrift gewann den Ellen-MacArthur-Preis in Wirtschaftsgeschichte. Sie wurde durch zahlreiche weitere hochkarätige Stipendien in ihrer Arbeit unterstützt, so beispielsweise von der Gerda Henkel Stiftung und dem Europäischen Forschungsrat. Ihre Veröffentlichungen behandeln das Sozialgefüge von Ostafrika. Außerdem gilt sie als Spezialistin für die Geschichte des Islam in diesem Teil Afrikas. (de)

She worked at the University of Cambridge from 2010 till 2016, where she was also Fellow of Peterhouse College. She works on AIDS, slavery and the spread of Islam in East Africa, especially Tanzania. Becker's work has been supported by grants from the Gerda Henkel Foundation and the European Research Council. She won the Ellen MacArthur Prize in Economic History at Cambridge University.
