- Empire is a British-German heavy metal band founded in 2000 by former Majesty guitarist, Rolf Munkes. Munkes was joined by bassist Neil Murray, singer Lance King and drummer Gerald Kloos. The band recorded their first album Hypnotica in 2001. In 2003, Munkes published another album, with the addition of ex-Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin on vocals and keyboardist Don Airey. The album was called Trading Souls. Airey left the band before the recording of the third Empire album, The Raven Ride (2006). With the exception of Airey and the new drummer André Hilgers, the line up of the band was identical to Trading Souls. For the 2007 album Chasing Shadows, Munkes employed a new singer, Doogie White. In 2003 waren Airey en Johansson opnieuw gast, maar nu was de zanger Tony Martin. - Empire (grafisch: Empirə) was een Brits/Amerikaanse rockband, aangevoerd door Peter Banks. De band bestond tussen 1974 en 1980. Empire ontstond toen de band Flash uit elkaar viel door onder andere problemen in het management. Banks wilde wel verder onder de naam Flash Mk II, maar koos uiteindelijk voor Empire. Empire ontstond uit de resten van ZOX and The Radar Boys, waarin behalve Banks ook Phil Collins speelde. Banks ging verder met Empire, Collins met Brand X. Een andere musicus in ZOX was overigens Ronnie Caryl, die al eerder met Collins werkte in . Empire begon met Mike Tomich en later ook Caryl in de gelederen, maar het eerste album werd opgenomen zonder deze mensen. Bassist was John Giblin (later Brand X). Na het verschijnen van het eerste album viel Empier uit elkaar, mede doordat Banks en zijn toenmalige vriendin en later echtgenote Sydney Foxx naar de Verenigde Staten verhuisden. (nl)
