EmperorLinux, Inc. is a reseller who, according to PC Magazine, "specialize in the sales of pre-configured Linux laptops for companies and individuals that want stable, easy-to use laptops". EmperorLinux was founded in 1999 by Lincoln Durey, an EE Ph.D. from Tulane University. The company's first product was the BlackPerl Linux laptop, based on a Sony VAIO 505TR with a highly modified Linux kernel. Since 1999, the company has added a range of IBM ThinkPads, Dell Latitudes, and Sharp laptops to its lineup. The company is privately held and based in Atlanta, Georgia, US.
