- فراء الثعلب الأحمر هو جُزء من فراء مسوّد الجلد للثعلب الأحمر التي لديها شريط داكن طويل في ظهرها، يتقاطع شريط آخر لتشكيل صليب على الأكتا. تميل إلى أن تكون أكثر وفرة في المناطق الشمالية من كندا، وهي أكثر ندرة من الشكل الأحمر الشائع، ولكنها أكثر شيوعًا من الثعلب الفضي الأكثر قتامة. يتميز هذا الفراء بلونه المتراوح ما بين البني المحمر والأحمر الصدئ كما يوجد نمط فضيّ لهذه الحيوانات، ويستخدم فرو الثعلب الفضي حاليا لصناعة الأطواق، اللفائف، والأوشحة، بينما يستخدم فراء الثعلب الأحمر للزركشة وتلبيس المعاطف الداخلي. - The cross fox is a partially melanistic colour variant of the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) which has a long dark stripe running down its back, intersecting another stripe to form a cross over the shoulders. It tends to be more abundant in northern regions of Canada, and is rarer than the common red form, but is more common than the even darker silver fox. (en)
- Le renard croisé est une de Renard roux (Vulpes vulpes) partiellement atteinte de mélanisme, qui est une mutation génétique lui conférant une robe relativement noire. Ce phénotype intermédiaire est caractérisé par un motif foncé en forme de croix sur le dos et les épaules.
