- تجفيف المحاصيل (بالإنجليزية: Crop desiccation) قبل الحصاد هو أحد طرق الحفظ التي يستخدم فيها عامل خارجي لتسريع الحصول على المحاصيل قبل الحصاد مباشرة. في الزراعة، يطلق مصطلح مادة مجفِّفة على العامل الذي يعزز الجفاف، وبالتالي فإن العوامل المستخدمة ليست مجففات كيميائية، بل هي مبيدات أعشاب و/أو مواد تقطير مجففة تستخدم لتسريع عملية تجفيف أنسجة النبات بشكل مصطنع. يُمارس تجفيف المحاصيل من خلال استخدام مبيدات الأعشاب في جميع أنحاء العالم على مجموعة متنوعة من المحاصيل الغذائية وغير الغذائية. - Sikkation (übersetzt: Austrocknung) bezeichnet einen Vorgang in der Landwirtschaft, bei dem Kulturpflanzenbestände mit Sikkanten zum Zwecke der Abreifebeschleunigung abgetötet werden.Ein willkommener Nebeneffekt ist die gleichzeitige Abtötung von Unkräutern, deren noch grüne Pflanzenteile andernfalls mit dem Getreide abgeerntet und den Feuchtigkeitsgehalt des Ernteguts erhöhen würden. Dieser Vorgang wird aus betriebswirtschaftlichen Gründen im konventionellen Anbau als erforderlich erachtet, etwa um bei Winterraps bei nassen Erntebedingungen, erhöhter Verunkrautung und Zwiewuchs einen Gewinn bei der Ernte zu erwirtschaften. - Pre-harvest crop desiccation refers to the application of an agent to a crop just before harvest to kill the leaves and/or plants so that the crop dries out from environmental conditions ("dry-down") more quickly and evenly. In agriculture, the term desiccant is applied to an agent that promotes dry down, thus the agents used are not chemical desiccants, rather they are herbicides and/or defoliants used to artificially accelerate the drying of plant tissues. Desiccation of crops through the use of herbicides is practiced worldwide on a variety of food and non-food crops. (en)
