Byl prvním mecenášem, který podporoval skladatele Josepha Haydna, kterého zaměstnal jako svého kapelníka. Ten hraběti věnoval několik svých prvních . Velkým milovníkem hudby a mecenášem byl také jeho starší příbuzný hrabě Václav z Morzinu, jenž byl patronem Antonia Vivaldiho.
