- بقع الصوفي القطني (بالإنجليزية: Cotton wool spots) هي علامة طبية تظهر خلال فحص شبكية العين بالمنظار، وتظهر في شكل بقع بيضاء رقيقة على شبكية العين. تحدث بقع الصوف القطني بسبب تلف في الألياف العصبية، هذا التلف ناتج عن تراكم مواد سيتوبلازم المحور العصبي في طبقة الألياف العصبية، وهذا التراكم سببه انخفاض (نقص) في نقل المحور العصبي بسبب نقص التروية. يؤدي تراكم مواد سيتوبلازم المحور العصبي إلى تلف الألياف العصبية من خلال وزمة الطبقة السطحية لشبكية العين. وقد خلص تحليل أجري عام 1981 إلى أنه «في معظم الحالات لا تمثل بقع الصوف القطني كل مساحة الشبكية التي تعاني من نقص التروية، ولكنها تعكس فقط عرقلة التدفق المحوري في المحاور المتقاطعة إلى مناطق نقص تروية أكبر بكثير». قد يصاحب وجود بقع الصوف القطني علامات أخرى مثل احتشاءات وعائية ونزيف بالشبكية. وقد ينخفض ظهور بقع الصوف القطني بمرور الوقت. فيما تظهر بقع الصوف القطني بشكل وفير في مرض ارتفاع ضغط الدم الخبيث. مرض السكري وارتفاع ضغط الدم هما أكثر الأمراض الشائعة التي تسبب هذه البقع، وأفضل علاج لهذه البقع هو علاج المرض الأساسي. في مرض السكري تعتبر بقع الصوف القطي واحدة من السمات المميزة لاعتلال الشبكية السكري. انسداد الوريد الشبكي المركزي هو حالة أخرى يمكن أن تظهر فيها بقع الصوف القطني. Bei der Augenhintergrunduntersuchung (Ophthalmoskopie) sind weiße, unscharf begrenzte („baumwollartige“, daher der Name) Flecken zu sehen. Ursache sind Kapillarverschlüsse der Netzhaut mit ischämischem Axoplasmastau. (de)
- Cotton wool spots are opaque fluffy white patches on the retina of the eye that are considered an abnormal finding during a funduscopic exam (also called an ophthalmoscopic exam). Cotton wool spots are typically a sign of another disease state, most common of which is diabetic retinopathy. The irregularly shaped white patches are a result of ischemia, or reduced blood flow and oxygen, in the retinal nerve fiber layer, which is located in the distribution of the capillaries of the superficial layer of the retina. These areas with reduced blood flow reflect the obstruction of axoplasmic flow due to mechanical or vascular causes and the consequential accumulation as a result of decreased axonal transport. This reduced axonal transport can then cause swelling or bulging on the surface layer of the retina, increasing the potential for nerve fiber damage. The presence of cotton wool spots may resolve independently over time, typically in 4-12 weeks, or may depend on the underlying disease causing the condition. Diagnosis and treatment of the underlying disease state may be beneficial in the treatment and management of cotton wool spots. (en)
